Hello once again. Quick question. My fiancee has been here for a month now (K-1 visa), we're going to get married soon and then send out her AOS packet. My question is, when can she apply to get a U.S. passport? After we marry? Or after she becomes a conditional permanent resident? Can anyone tell me what documents are required? Thank you.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but you can only get a passport if you have a citizenship. For legal immigrants you get it through naturalization, but that is completely separate from Adjustment of status for someone who came into the country on K1.

Once you marry, she will first file for GC and probably get a temporary one that lasts two years. After that she files for removal of conditions to get a 10 year GC....

I think you have to live in the country for at least 5 years before you can be considered eligble for naturalization, but I am completely ignorant in that area.

Naturalized! Yeah!

Well, that answers my question. I didnt know she had to be a U.S. citizen first. Long road before we get to that step. thanks
