Hi Folks,

We are hoping to do the medical next week and I have some questions. I just want to make sure we have everything right.

Only my wife the applicant can go into St Lukes or am I able to accompany here?

Can payment be made by cash? How much should we bring?

I heard to get this done in one day is possible if standing in like at 3 or 4 am. is this true? My wife is pregnant? Will they still make her wait in line for hours and hours? Any tips? Yes we already registered.. :)

Thanks

Hi,

My then fiance (now husband) was allowed to get inside St Luke's and accompanied me in my medical exam. Not sure if they had changed their policy now. I had mine done last year.

Check this link below for the fees. Also, you can download the flow chart which will serve as your guide.

http://www.slec.ph/us-visa-applicants.shtml#medical-fees

Not sure if ieverything can be compressed in 1 day, I doubt not but you can always ask.

Btw, you have to tell the doctors/nurses that your wife is pregnant. In that case they will know which procedure not to give to her. Certainly she won't have her xray and other vaccines which are dangerous for the baby.

If you can, be there before 6am as there is always a long line as early as 3 am. ?

Good luck and hope everything is well for your wife.

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Hi!

Based on my research, companions are not allowed inside SLEC. However, if your wife is in her third trimester or needs constant assistance because of her pregnancy, they might let you accompany her. Bear in mind that it will probably be the guard on duty's discretion, and they are not always pleasant, so I wouldn't count on it. If you want to go with her and you are not let in, you can always wait at the nearby Starbucks or Café France (both walking distance from SLEC) so that you can have lunch together. Just make sure to bring things to entertain yourself, as it will be a long wait.

Line up as early as you can. I was there at 2:30 am and was #6 in the queue. I finished at 11:00 am, but had to come back at 1:30 pm for x-ray results and further instruction. I was out by 2:00 pm. You will most likely not be able to get everything done in one day, as there are hundreds of applicants being processed everyday. Your wife will likely be asked to come back the next day for immunization, unless you apply for a waiver for this (I'm not very familiar with the process so you might want to look into it before doing the medical). Call SLEC and ask.

I think she will still be asked to do the x-ray, but she MUST disclose that she is pregnant so that the radiology technician can take the necessary precautions to shield the baby from radiation.

They only accept cash payments. Prepare 11,300 PhP.

Good luck! :)

You can not go into SLEC only your wife will be admitted entrance.

Payment has to be in Pesos.

Total BS about doing it in one day if you arrive early. There is no benefit to arriving early, you just get the joy of standing around longer. After a after SLEC opens and the lines have cleared.. must easier. Being able to complete everything in one day is the except, not the rule, it is a two day process. (my wife did complete her medical and got her vaccinations in one day, and she did not arrive at 4AM ... why some process faster than others is a mystery)

Special consideration for being pregnant only relates to the actual process, everyone get the joy of waiting their turn.

Thanks,

I think we will get a hotel close by and will plan on 2 days. Does anyone know of a decent and safe hotel with in walking distance?

There are many hotels around your location. Just got to the top of the forum here and you will see recommended hotels in the area, with prices and reviews.
