Hi there,

I applied I-130 back in last Dec. I am in NJ, so I sent application package to USCIS Chicago Lockbox address.

The receipt I received was sent by TSC office.

Does this mean my I-130 is processed in TSC and I should check its processing time based on TSC info?

thanks a lot!

Yes approximately. The timelines they give you are not secure, they approximate. They change.

The USCIS section of the immigration process is very opaque. They do not update you when they do most things related to your file. They tell you they have the file and most often will tell you if it moves to another service center. They will request information, and they will tell you once they make a decision. You otherwise have ZERO idea what's going on. Is it in a box? is it on a desk? who knows!

Thanks NLR.

I know their process sucks.

All I want to know is if my case is processed in TSC or not, since TSC processing time on I-130 seems much better than VSC which is closer to NJ.

Oh I understand now. Yes I assume you have a SRC case number?

The first three letters indicate the USCIS service center which is processing the petition, as follows:

– EAC – Vermont Service Center

– WAC – California Service Center

– LIN – Nebraska Service Center

– SRC – Texas Service Center

MSC – National Benefits Center

I think Potomac service center is PSC.

Thanks a lot to both!

Yes, I have SRC in my receipt number.

I assume the process time posted in USCIS page is for APPROVL (?). Next we have to go through Interview phrase. Normally how many months is between approval date and interview date?

It takes about a year, same process as a spousal visa. USCIS, NVC, consulate/embassy. So the NVC stage is normally 4-5 months after NOA2.

Actually I apply GC for my kid. Which visa is it?

When I did the same thing for my wife, it took 6 months for approval, another 3 months to get the interview.

USCIS time tracking page shows it takes 5 months in TSC to handle cases like ours. I received receipt in Dec, so probably I will get the approval in May, and interview in Aug/Sep. Does this sound about right?

btw, VJ page (http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/visa-bulletin-predictions-family-sponsored.php%EF'> is scary. It shows FB1 predication for Apr 2016 is 2008-09-17. What the hell is that?

thanks!

IR2 is the visa class.

Did you do a K1 for your wife or the CR1?

So you do the I-130 at the USCIS, then the AOS and visa application and documents at the NVC, then the interview in home country.
