Hi VJ family,

I'm a new member. I just discovered this useful website and i wish i had seen it before filing. My question goes to anyone who has successfully gone through the K1 journey in general and those who went through the US embassy in Ghana, in particular. My fiance and I are not active Facebook users. Thus, we don't have public posts and pictures of our relationship on facebook. However, we communicate daily on whatsapp and other texting apps. Will the fact that we don't post pictures and stuff on our Facebook be a red flag? Or basis for denial? Thanks.

Thanks for your opinion. My fiancé and I hardly posts anything on Facebook. We are very private. I'm getting a bit worried because I read a post that suggested that Facebook is now crucial to either approving or denying a K1 visa application. I hope experienced VJ members throw more light on this.

Where you lack fb evidence make up for it in something else, show proof of chats from the apps you use, don't you have pics from your trip there with your fiancee, family, and maybe friends, your outings together, notarized letters from family and friends attesting to your relationship? when your fiancee goes to the interview if they ask about fb have them explain you preferred the apps you use to communicate, but make sure only one explain fb if asked about it don't volunteer the question to be asked, this is a tough embassy and they will grill your fiancee likely on the petition info you sent in and what else they may feel like asking, you just never know what they will ask be ready for anything, good luck ???

Thanks Mrs Bonsu. I'd like to think we have enough chat evidence but we didn't front load because we didn't know about that. From your experience, will that be an issue? Did you frontload?

Having a Facebook or not will not effect your application. Use Whatsapp and send them pictures of you and your partner together etc.

Thanks.

No I didn't front load I didn't know anything about this whole process until after his first interview, that is when I started looking for processes or procedures and found this site, but don't worry about Facebook make sure your fiancee has enough evidence to show a bona fide relationship and knows everything about you and family
