You can ALWAYS renew your passport in your maiden name even if your married po. Before we did the ROM for my asawa she wanted to go down to LA to see if she could "fix it" to where she could renew her passport with her married name. They told us that "she has to do the ROM first before they can renew the passport in our married name, but she can always just renew it in her maiden name if she wanted it done".

Thanks so I will declare my status as SINGLE? Since we cannot declare ROM.

Yes. Since you can not do the ROM then that is the only way.

Hello all,

I would like to seek some advise my husband and I are married last April 2015.

My husband is US citizen, he was divorced here in US to a filipina but they never informed the Philippine consulate regarding their marriage. Last year, I tried to renew my passport to be change under my husband surname. But I was denied due to my husband birth was Philippines, he got his US citizen by Naturalization. We were advised to have his marriage annulled in the Philippines. He was here in US since 5 years old, its been a while he return in the Philippines and such hussle process just to renew my passport?

I only have 1 year validity of my Philippines passport and I'm currently in the process of my removal of conditional greencard will take 8 to 12 monthhs processing. My concern is the timing while waiting to receive approval 10 year greencard to the expiration of my Philippine passport.

Is there a way I could just used my old information status in the Philippines? Will my Philippine passport be renewed?

Any inputs highly appreciated.

Thank you

Aevi

Ok, I am reading this further and I had a couple questions. How did the Philippine government know about his previous marriage if it was never registered with the Philippine government, or is what you were saying is that he married someone in the Philippines but then got divorced in the USA after he brought her here?

My husband and I travelled last year in Vegas and i used my married name in the booking..it turns out ok some minor difficulty cause name adjustments but I brought all the supporting documents.

How about international? Will it be my Maiden Name?

They ask for his birth place and my husband was born in the Philippines. and we also presented divorce papers. They require this number of marriage affidavit. His ex wife was filipina she was permanent resident here in US.

You always want to go with the name in your passport po unless your flying domestically. If it's internationally it's always the name in your passport. When you fly back to Pinas make sure to bring your green card, your AP, and your marriage license just in case.

So he never married in the Philippines or had his previous marriage registered with the Philippine embassy before??? That's just weird because I never had to submit a divorce decree while we were doing a ROM for my asawa. I would honestly try them ROM again in all honesty and just leave out his previous marriage documents because it never asks for those.

Marriage Contract or Certificate, bearing information on the number of marriages contracted by both parties. If the number of marriages does not appear on the marriage contract/certificate, please submit Marriage Record/License

This one was asked to us that time..

I am looking at the Report of Marriage forum and it does not say that at all. We submitted our marriage license and we had no problem at all. So I would submit you marriage license and do the ROM all over again. Here is the form na:

Gosh this is why I really hate how different consulates have different rules. The Philippine embassy in DC and Los Angeles does not require that at all.

You are right and I apologize. But do renew it under your maiden name and then next year just naturalize.

Yeah it's pretty aggravating to say the least when 2 different consulates of the same country have different requirements.

Not a problem and I am glad to help you. We are here in the Philippine sub forum are always willing to help if you have questions. I am sorry I went down a rabbit hole with you. My asawa is going to file for her citizenship as well this year so hopefully everything works out.
