Umm so I just got off the phone with the NVC. The lady said that they are still processing interview dates for September 2014. My priority date is Feb 18th 2015, but my NVC letter says they will provide an interview date within 30 days of my case complete date. I have no idea wth the NVC is talking about. I opened the case complete spreadsheet and it says on average within 62 days of case complete the interview date will happen. However, based on NVC they are saying it will taking 5 months just get assigned an interview date, what is going on here? I told her this is for my spouse and shes like thats a F2A. For reference, my embassy for interview processing is bombay.

My case is complete and approved. I am a US born citizen, but NVC screwed up my case and instead of IR1 it is F2A. What did they do here, does this mean I have to wait until my priority date to get an interview scheduled. The guy at the NVC said I can do a change, but it would pull me out of the queue and then reassign me, he said it would be better to wait. My priority date is Feb 2015 and they are currently on September 2014.

It all depends on whether the petitioner is a US citizen or a permanent resident. Most of the cases in the spreadsheet are for cases filed by US citizens for their spouse and these cases move much faster than those filed by permanent residents.

If the petitioner is a permanent resident, then the case filed for his/her spouse becomes a F2A case. For these, you are given a priority date based on when the original petition (I-130) was filed with USCIS. And the interviews are only scheduled when the priority date for the case becomes 'curent'. Right now, according to the visa bulletin, cases with priority dates before Sep 22, 2014 are being scheduled for interview by the NVC.

For petitions filed by US citizens for their spouse, there are no priority dates and thus, there is no waiting for the priority date to become current so these cases move much much faster.

Hope this clarifies your confusion.

If you were born in the US why do you need a visa? Maybe you can give some more information to help get more specific responses.

My case is complete and approved.

So did you upgrade during the process? Or you been a USC?

Just call NVC on Monday talk to a supervisor. Why would you have to wait for your PD to be current if you are a USC? I'm confused.

When did you get Case Complete?

Okay saw your post in the other thread and I am just very confused. You said you were a USC. When did you upgrade?

My spreadsheet as you see is all embassies. That 62 days is an average. You need to focus just on your embassy. Bombay will not be your embassy. They do not do spousal visas. You will have Interview either New Delhi or Mumbai Look at the first 3 letters of your case # that will tell you where you will have interview.

so my question to you is:

1. You say you are a USC when did you upgrade your case? USCIS or NVC?

If you are a USC then priority date is of no matter.

Hi dwheels76! Mumbai = Bombay. :) Bombay was changed to be called Mumbai in the mid 1990's. I think that's what the BMB at the beginning of our case numbers stands for, but not sure. Lots of locals still refer to it as Bombay.
