No desire to have a wedding..? Will that be problematic?

I'm kind of nervous that our k1 visa will be denied due to several factors.

1) We have hung out in person a total of three times. The first time is when the romantic attraction developed (January of 2015), the second time was when we finally decided to start dating (July of 2015) and then we hung out again as a couple in October. The issue is, I'm not much of a "selfie" or "picture" person , really. So I didn't take many photos of us together.. and I never thought "OH I BETTER TAKE A LOT FOR THE K1 VISA". lol. So I feel like that may make us look suspicious.

2) We talk a lot so we have loads of chat logs and voice convo logs to use. But I'm not sure how many I should add to the package.

3) I don't want a wedding. This was a big issue with my ex boyfriend and his family. I have a dysfunctional family and have no one to invite, and I don't have too many friends. My fiance doesn't care for wedding either. We are both private people, and we just want to be together in the same country and have a family together eventually. :\ Plus wedding are expensive and I'm already in a lot of debt but getting by and am worried I'll have trouble with AOS as well.

So.. are these things going to pose issues eventually? Or am I just overthinking?

The wedding itself will not be a problem. Many just do a justice of the peace and then some plan a big wedding later.

You didn't say what country so the other things like lack of pictures and not much face time could be a problem.

I was wondering how many chat log conversations I should add as well.. and how many "phone call logs" I should add. :\ Also do they base things like photos and text messages from the beginning when they're looking at your i 129f or do those judgments come later? I'm so worried.

Having a big wedding is not a requirement. The minimum you have to do is get legally married, which in almost every state can be done for under $100 at your local courthouse or other municipal authority.

There is a good post somewhere on here from an ex-consular officer who ajudicated spouse visas. I think much of his advice would apply to a K-1 visa too. He said that with a reasonable explanation (and no other red flags) you should be good to go. He gave several examples such as the officer asking, "Why isn't your wife's name on your lease?" Answer, "I rented the apartment before I knew her and when it comes up for renewal we will add her name". I applied this logic to my situation which is similar to yours (of course maybe it's a mistake to apply logic in this process)

I don't want an engagement ring for a number of reasons (cost, blood diamonds, I don't really like jewelry anyway). If he is asked about this at the interview my fiance can explain that I've chosen not to have a ring because we'd prefer to use that money on a down payment for a new house.

I think if your reasons are well thought out and truthful then you're good.

You get approved for your I129F on bare minimum but for your actual visa interview at the embassy there's more scrutiny. But you're from France that, as far as I know is a low fraud country so you should be fine. Unless you have recently been to middle eastern countries or is originally from there.

I didn't send any chat logs or call logs for my application - but had a few selfies with it. Why don't you just face time and screen shot that? I think it's more important for the actual interview than the i129f to document ongoing relationship.. i wouldn't bother sending out more than a couple of pages of log and focus more on sending proof of visit through airplane tickets and passport stamps..

Ah! Yes, I'm adding some photos of us together. I think I have like three. And I definitely have proof of plane tickets and so on. So basically having proof of plane ticket and passport stamps and a few photos should be enough for the i129f. Right. ? I'm just worried they'll deny it because of something crazy. So I'm super nervous lol.

If you have boarding passes that's better. Tickets only show someone bought a ticket. Boarding pass actually show you got on the plane.

Fudge. No boarding passes. ;__; The only reason I still had the plane tickets is cause I don't delete my emails. Ha.

I just sent the tickets, which i printed from my mail. I didn't even send copy of the passport stamps, and since i live in norway, my guy didn't get a stamp here because his plane landed in sweden first so only Swedish stamps. Don't worry! And the whole wedding thing - it's more than you that doesn't want a big wedding and a ceremony ;-)

Did they stamp your passport? I took copies of my passport stamps and included them.

Yes, they did when I visited in France! I guess I can ask him for his stamps as well. So we could use that. So I'm guessing for the first part you really don't need to include that much right? Just a couple selfies of us together, passport stamps, plane tickets. Maybe one or two chat logs? Not sure what else.

It's a good idea to include it in your i129f as some embassies will make their decision based on that evidence and not care much for what you bring in on the day of your interview.
