Greetings, y'all! We're moving right along with the visa process (with my fiancee now waiting for her London interview) and I'm looking ahead to get ourselves ready for her AOS process. The guides here are wonderful. No questions on the filing (yet). My concern is the evidence we'll have to present when it comes time for our interview. Basically, there won't be a lot. I'm a university student still and we will be living with my parents. All we'll really have to show is:

  • An affidavit from my parents saying we live there
  • Fiancee's state ID with the same address as my DL
  • A joint checking/saving account
  • A car title with both our names
  • The marriage license
  • Pictures of us dating, pictures from the wedding, and a letter of how we met

I'm wondering if this is enough? Maybe if in the letter we mention our situation it will help? We don't really have the finances to be making big purchases, taking out loans, etc. And, all the utilities are already in my parents' names. Sorry if this is a silly question but I'd rather have my anxieties calmed now or have problems brainstormed and fixed before it's even an issue. Thanks!

For AOS, you don't need all this evidence. You just need to provide a certified copy of your marriage certificate.

The bona fide marriage evidence comes when you're removing conditions 2 years down the line.

For your interview, that stuff should be fine -- just be sure to show a progression from start of marriage till date of interview.

Maybe look into getting joint credit cards, health insurance and wills.

Oooh! I don't know how I got that mixed up? LOL. Thanks so much for the clarification!

The application requires nothing but the marriage certificate. However, if you interview, take along those things you have mentioned. Not a lot is expected in the short time since your marriage, but most have a few photos from the wedding (take copies because some keep a few for the file) and a joint bank account.

Thanks, Nich-Nick. You're always a huge help. Even if I suspected this would be fine, it's nice to get some confirmation. :)
