I agree with this. Why not have her meet you in Canada for the wedding, then you both travel back to the US where she enters on her K-1 visa? Then you can marry, apply for AOS/AP/EAD, and won't have to worry about traveling out of the US until after AP is approved.

YHZ is not likely to let her through the US customs(which is done in Halifax, not NY) without activating the K1 Visa. If you've traveled out of YHZ before you'd know they tend to be on the more strict side of things. I'm sure she'd rather attend his wedding then move 2 weeks earlier. Save her being upset, just travel later.

No way to know if it will be 5 months after visa is issued. You "stand corrected" regarding the date being based on the medical but there's no way to know when the visa will be issued in relation to the date of the medical so they might not have as much time as that.

Nothing was being shot down. I was clarifying timing. If it was being shot down I would be very clear on that. A lot of people are responding assuming that the OP is willing to change their plans and as you pointed out, we don't know how flexible they are.

The medical is only good for 6 months. The clock is ticking against "later in the summer" which is what i believe the OP mentioned their timing is. They did their interview on February 17th so even if they only did their medical a few days before that they are up against the clock.

I just hope they figure something out.

So our date's pretty set in stone at this point. We've already sent out invitations and booked venues, etc. It's alright though, we were planning on missing the brother's wedding before the mix-up at the embassy interview so nothing it too devastating.

I sent the Montreal Embassy an email last night just to get it as a "final say" kinda thing, and they speedily replied this morning.

Kindly note the applicant cannot travel back and forth while they have a K-1 visa. If they return back to Canada, their case will be considered abandoned and the process will be null at which time they will have to start the entire petition anew. They must not leave the United States until they get married and adjust status to CR1. If the applicant has a need to travel while on a K-1 visa than you must contact USCIS and apply for a travel document, only with the approval of USCIS can the applicant leave the country.

With this topic and the email from Montreal, I told my fiance the bad news and it went okay. She wasn't too upset, and said she wasn't too surprised either. Everything's well!! Thanks for all the help and concern though, guys.
