Hi!!

Try this, not sure if it's accurate, maybe will be a good idea to call first.

good luck!! :-)

http://www.recordcheck.ca/our-services/canadian-police-cpic-checks/

I went to this one and I recommend them. They do it in 24 hours ($65 if I remember correctly) or in 3 business days ($50 I think)

I tried the whole going to a police station in Montreal and they told me they didn't do it and to call a number that told me it will be $100 to get it done...

Hah!. Because we're only in the beginning process of this, I didn't even consider that they would eventually need a criminal record check nearing the ending stages. (Seems pretty obvious now, but I honestly didn't think of it.)

Just to clarify, so it's better to get a digital finger print scan along with a name/DOB check?
This will suffice as a criminal record check?

I'm in Ontario, so hopefully I should be able to go to my local police station...
Or do we have to do a police check in Montreal?

I think I'm confusing myself. haha.

A finger print check is not required (unless criminal history i believe).

I just had the name check done and was completely fine. Make sure you get the Police Certificate, and not just a record check. They are different.

You just need a name check if youve never been convicted. You can get it anywhere RCMP, city police, provincial police, or commissionares that checks CPIC. (Canada wide check.)

It' s not a bad idea to get the fingerprint version if you've been arrested either.

Actually, just to clarify.

I'm assuming once I get my next set of instructions they ask me to provide a Criminal background check and I have to bring it with me to the interview or?

I'm reading this and got confused...

I got a "Canadian Police Certificate" from the Commissionaires (no fingerprints).

Is there another name for the certificate I got?

On the certificate it says:

“No Record Found: Based solely on the name and date of birth provided a search of the National Criminal Records repository maintained by the RCMP did not identify any records for a person with the name and date of birth of the applicant. Positive identification that a criminal record may or may not exist at the National Criminal Records repository can only be confirmed by fingerprint comparison. Not all offences are reported to the National Criminal Records repository. A local indices check may or may not reveal criminal record convictions that have not been reported to the National Criminal Records repository.”

So, it's saying that there's no record BUT some stuff isn't reported to the national repository and this can only be revealed by a local check.

Does this mean I need to cover my butt and get a local check as well?

The local police station offers a Police Information Check (PIC) (aka Criminal Records Check or Criminal History Check).

The RCMP office also offers PIC, as well as the Canadian Criminal Real Time Identification Services (CCRTIS) Criminal Record Check from Ottawa. It says that this check is different from PIC.

I've also found out that I can go to the local police station and request non-conviction records. In reading about non-conviction records, I read that different police forces might have different policies about what records should be released on various levels of checks, and so may give you different results. Different local police services may also have different recorded information about you that is not directly available to other police services.

PLEASE HELP!
