Hi all,

I’ve got a question about the income declaration on the I-134.

My partner has a wage-based healthcare job where she gets paid $40 an hour for 40 hours a week, so around $1600 a week. Annually, this would clearly take her over the minimum poverty threshold. We have a letter from her employer confirming her hourly rate and the number of hours worked per week but they did not translate that into an annual income as her current placement has a fixed-term contract of 6 months. As such, we shall have to calculate something for the I-134.

My two questions are:

1) How would we calculate the amount for the "annual income” line on the I-134? Should we just calculate the wage earnings as $1600 a week for 52 weeks?

2) Her wage-based contract is up in 5 months so does this need to be accounted for in the calculation somehow?

Simon.

P.S. A 5 month contract is a common situation in my partner's field or work where she goes from placement to placement every 3 to 6 months, getting a new contract for each placement. Her employer has kindly written a second letter to explain that this is the case and that she will "not have any difficult securing a new placement assignment given her performance and the market conditions where there is a high demand for her skills and job". We also have her IRS Transcript from the past two years confirming a fairly stable annual income over the poverty level, as well as a 12 month deposits letter from her bank.

$1600 per week X 52 weeks + $xx,xxx per year.
