hello everyone,

My wife, a us citizen, filed I-130 for her parents. The petition just got approved a week ago and sent to NVC. Now here is the question, my wife did not work in 2015,2014 and worked in 2013. Also, she just started a new job in January 2016 part time(annual projected income $8000). I( her husband will be the primary sponsor) with annual income around 120k. so do we put her current income zero or should we put whatever she is making now in 2016 on the I864. Also we file taxes jointly so we will file

i864 wife (petitioner)

i864 me husband helping her to sponsor her parent with my income

i864A filled by husband

just want to make sure if I am on the right track.

thanks

Put whatever she is making, it will be evident from the tax returns anyway. You are on the right track with the forms. Please be sure to include the joint tax returns or tax transcripts and since it's too early for 2015, a W2 and letter from employer is fine. All the best!

Yes, you can put whatever amount she is earning now. She will put that in Part 6/Number 2. You as a household member will put your income in Part 6/Person 1.

Then, you total these incomes for Part 6/Question 15.

Since you will be including an I-864A as a household member, you do not need to complete a separate I864. It will be just an I864 completed by your wife and an I864A completed by you, the husband.

The "total income" line from the joint tax returns will be listed in Part 6/Question 19.

Of course, you will also need to provide evidence of income for both you and your wife (pay stubs, job letter etc) and an IRS tax transcript for the most recent year.

thansk for the quick reply and your advise.

so on the i864 Part 6 2. my current annual individual income _____( I should put wife income from 2016) and current annual household income ________( our combined income in 2016). we have already filed our tax returns for 2015 and its approved by IRS so should we put that on the i864 wife (zero income) and my income from 2015. so in short should we put 2015 or 2016 income as current income on i864.

Current income is what you are earning now, as in this coming year -- as long as you have evidence to back it up. Some people choose to put their past year's income instead which is also fine.
