N400 3 year marriage

Hi guys

I completed all the paperwork for N400.

Had 2 quick questions.

1. Since I'm filing on 3 year marriage to a USC spouse, I understand that I only need to list my travels for the past 3 years (and not 5). I've crossed that out as people suggested.

What about the addresses you lived and the jobs you had in the past 5 years? Can I only list for the past 3 years? (TBH I've listed last 5 years for those, but just checking if somebody also just listed last 3 years..)

2. I'm wondering when the new form will come but I assume if it comes the current one should still be valid.

The 2D barcode is awesome for USCIS, but I realized after printing all my paperwork at the store that on my associate memberships history I put 2005 instead of 2006. It's such a benign mistake, feel like crossing it out, but I can't really just print that page since now the code would be different. How do you go about fixing such a small irrelevant mistake? Just leave it? :)

I've kept last 5 years on location and job history, and 3 years on travels.

And I changed some stuff on the form and went to print shop and printed the whole form again thanks to the 2D barcode.

I just finished my citizenship process based on marriage to USC. I did exactly that - crossed out 5 years and put 3 years everywhere that it appeared. I also only gave history for everything for the last 3 years. no issues no RFEs no bumps. It was smooth sailing!

CR1 / CR2 Visa:

(Day 1) 12/16/11: I-130 Application sent

(Day 283) 09/24/12: Interview at US Consulate – Approved!

(Day 287) 09/28/12: Visa Received & Immediately entered US using Visa

(Day 290) 10/01/12: Social Security Card sent automatically

I just filed all my 5 years addresses and work history but kept to 3 years my travels. Didn't cross out anything this time, they should know anyway.

I remember the forums were pretty active for green card.

But since assembling the paperwork for N400 seemed so much like a formality (maybe we got trained so it's easier, or I'm missing something!), I can understand it is a less active section of the site :P

I did 5 with a letter attached reminding them that I am only here for 3 years so far and applying as a spouse. I weight on the side of caution and paranoia!

There aren't nearly as many people filing for citizenship as applying for spousal/fiance visas. And we are all definitely better trained and less frightened! lol

You should file under the 5-year rule instead of the 3-year rule if you qualify for both. The 5-year rule is easier and you doesn't need so much evidence about your marriage.

Thank you all, this thread is very helpful. Will be going through this process for my wife in 3 years and looks like even the new form says "5 years" for all the travel, work, and residence questions, so I'll be changing it to "3" if it's isn't fixed in the next 3 years!

1. For someone apply N400 based on 3 yr married to citizen, do you have to bring the original birth certificate or naturalization certificate of your US citizen spouse to the citizenship interview?

2. Does the US citizen need to go to the interview together with the beneficiary?

I am just curious, did you get checked the original during your N400 interview?

I am just curious, did you get checked the original during your N400 interview?

It'll be a hit or miss, most likely they won't check it. However, according to Murphy's law if you don't bring the originals, they will ask for sure.
