Thanks for the info and I'm really happy for you guys!!!

We're leaving 2nd week of May but i'm still trying to convince my husband to stay til end of July that way I'll have 10 years GC and not worry about ROC later on...

How is it that it will change by waiting?

I'm guessing you're talking the difference between a CR-1 and a IR-1 but that's decided when you apply for the I-130 isn't it?

From what I read you can be CR1 during the application and approval but if you've been married for a couple of years upon entry the visa becomes IR1.

That would be cool and I would think well worth waiting for!

 There is so much miss-information out there!

I was told the 2 years was from filing date. If you think to wait I would confirm that.

Since we had been married the 2 years we got the IR-1 Visa. It's stamped on Cel's Visa ??

Definitely worth the wait but unfortunately my husband is too stubborn to listen and already booked our flight... He said "I'd rather pay and process ROC

than spend few more months in a country whose favourite pastime is traffic and corruption" lol

That would be cool and I would think well worth waiting for!

Haha well to be honest it's hard to disagree with his thinking, but you forgot the pollution of every kind ;)

If he doesn't mind the additional expense and process.. be happy & roll with it, you'll love the States!

His happiness like yours is what matters...

Filed: IR-2 Country: Philippines

Hi. I just wanna ask what do I have to do next after receiving an email of the approval notice? They said that the consulate will contact me for the visa processing. Do I have to wait for it before doing anything?

There should be a case number with the e-mail. It's on the subject line.

There's also an instruction in that email.

It seems some get an approval notice with case # and some get one w/o?

We'll assume you did get one and the basics are.. don't wait for the consulate for anything. ;)

Follow the link in the email and file your DS-260 (actual visa application.) Don't worry when you aren't allowed to pay for it as you will pay at the consulate. Make sure when you complete it you save the conformation page to print out.

Make your Interview appointment, allowing time to do the medical, prepare your AOS (I-864/'s) and get all your supporting documents together.

For your medical again follow the link in your email and fill out the application for Saint Lukes saving the conformation page to print out. When you go to the hospital they'll want a copy of both your Interview appointment and your Saint Lukes on-line application conformation pages. Also ID and passport.

Next is your interview..

Cost for the medical is 11,300 (pesos only).

Interview is $325 US or ?? pesos

This is a long thread and if you have anymore questions you might consider starting your own thread.

Good Luck! :)

So my assumption that you have a case # is incorrect?

If you didn't receive the case # with your approval notice, contact the US Embassy's visa immigrant number or email to inquire if they have assigned a case number. It could take a couple of days but it doesn't hurt to follow-up. :) Once you have received your case number you may now fill out the DS 260, schedule your interview, and complete your medical.

At least 7 days before your interview date.

Just an update:

Got my case number today after emailing them :) just one question. After scheduling my interview date, how will I schedule my medical? I mean how many days before the interview date?
