Just got e mail today from US Embassy -Algiers that our k3 petition is there. Hubby is in Jordan Im in MI. I plan to go with him to ALgeria for interview but seems like they do not allow US citizens to come into Algeria without visa. Would I be able to get visa to Algeria from Algeria embassy in Jordan or do I have to do it from New York since I am resident of U.S.

And what all would I need for Algeria visa request? Interview date from US Embassy in Algeria.....?Address in Algeria? We have no one in Algeria and will probably rent an apartment or stay in a hotel during the stages of k3 processing for medical, etc.

Thanks in advance.

what's the status on the CR-1 or IR-1 visa processing at NVC ?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Wonder why you are interviewing in Algeria?

i130 was found in National Records Center. USCIS placed request yesterday for it to be sent to Texas Serv Cent then they will forward to NVC. Went to infopass appointment today to confirm that the request from USCIS to NRC was actually made and it was....just yesterday,

Wonder why you are interviewing in Algeria?

The petition was originally filed with US Embassy in Yemen. But due to the war in Yemen, i requested that my cases (k3) and i130 be sent to Algiers since Yemen is a war torn country at the moment.

You said he was in Jordan?

Yes. as a refugee from Yemen. I would have had it transferred to there but the cost of living is so expensive and the US embassy in Jordan is so slow at scheduling interviews and not good at communicating at all. Right now, hes staying at friends apartment and cant even get a work visa there since he is a refugee.

you mention you are a usa resident, so i can't figure out the algerian visa requirement.

if you were a uscitizen, well, maybe there's a path for that.

Good Luck with the rest of the process - I THINK he's to fill out a DS-160 online somewhere.

Interesting.

I had obtained the impression that Jordan was one of the better Consulates.

Yes, I am a U.S. citizen. For Algeria, I read online, they say for US residents, a visa is needed from New York and proof of why you need a visa is required and then they approve it at their discretion. Sucks. :(

I just dont know if obtaining an entry visa to ALgeria from Jordan, for example, would be allowed for U.S. citizens.

Thank you; yes he does need to fill out ds 160. Just procrascinating if I should move forward with k3 or wait for i130. Whats ur opinion on this?

I also read that for k3 visa, a joint sponsor cant be used on a i134

I thought so too. Based on embassy reviews and a few people that I know transferring their cases out from Jordan to a different country due to the delayed responses and carelessness of the Embassy there. I was shocked as well....but Algeria isnt making it any easier with them not allowing US citizens to enter algeria except by applying and getting approved for an entry visa.

As a general comment most countries require visa's for most people who could visit them.

I agree. Most usually do visa upon arrival. Algeria.....not for US citizens. Got to apply, provide documentation and get approved for entry visa. Complicates things when trying to make plans to book an interview at US embassy in algeria. Not knowing when and if theyll approve your request for entry visa to ALgeria. In order to actually get it, they want you to send them interview appointment date and letter proving you have business in Algeria.
