Futbol, otoh, was a successful export, invented here in the USA by the Iroquois way before they got 'migrated' out.

I apologize for the misleading title, I guess that is my American side coming out (soccer vs football). It has been duly reported requesting a modification.

On another note, I used to referee ice hockey, and I became appalled by the behavior of fans, and in particular ice hockey parents as well as some players. I remember many times being threatened with a meeting in the parking lot. In one instance I was refereeing a men's league game when a obviously inebriated goalie started landing punches on the head of an opposing player. Of course according to the rules I issued him a five minute fighting penalty for fighting even though the opposing player turtled and never fought back. In amateur ice hockey this penalty comes with an automatic ejection, and the goalie was subsequently threatening to meet me in the parking lot. This was the closest I ever came to calling the police, but fortunately cooler heads from his team took care of the situation. Needless to say, I decided to leave refereeing soon after that incident.
