So we're awaiting our NOA1 right now for our I-129F petition, and I'm aware that at some point I'll need a police certificate - how long does this take to arrive in the UK does anyone know? Whens the best time to get it?

It's good for 12 months. Takes maybe 2 weeks or less to arrive. Like everything in this process, your time can vary, but it's not a long wait.

Have you ever had an arrest or even a caution that has been expunged from your record? If so, order a police certificate AND a Subject Access Report. The SAR takes longer. Otherwise order the police certificate at least two weeks before you expect the NOA2. Then you will have it ready in time to take to your medical exam when your case makes it to London.

Go sort your shots RIGHT NOW. List of things here. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/474161-london-k1-a-complete-guide-do-not-post-questions-in-thread/

Hey,

No arrests or cautions - the only thing that maybe comes to mind is when I was younger, in university - me and a friend got written up by a police officer because he was urinating against a wall when drunk - but nothing ever came of it and I didn't hear anything past the initial 'telling off' - what do you think?

Order you police certificate. If it comes back "no trace", then you have a clean record. If it comes back "no live trace" then your write up is on a hidden record and you should order a SAR which will detail the offense. You wouldn't need that part until your interview. Regular police certificate is good enough for the medical.

Brilliant, thanks for this - so I assume it is alright to open the police certificate before the medical/visa? Even if that write up is on record - that wouldn't cause any problems right?

Sorry, last thing (Sorry! lol) - looking through your guide for vaccinations, and I've just got off the phone to my GP - I'm right in thinking that as I had chickenpox when I was a kid I don't need the Varicella jab right?

The police certificate is not sealed for embassy use only. You can read it.

Chickenpox: Make sure you tell them at the medical. They take your word for it. Then look at the form they hand you and make sure on the Varicella section that they ticked the box that says "Varicella History". if not, hand it back and say "you didn't mark that I had chickenpox." It's important to get that noted in the signed record.
