Do they interview young children?

Hey guys.

We are doing DCF in Athens Greece and have filed 3 I-130s. One for me (spouse) and one for each 10 year old child (USCs stepsons).

At the Embassy page it states all people immigrating should be present at interview. Does this include 10 year old kids???

Yes, they have to be present at the interview

No, only the ones having CR-1/CR-2 visa. They may ask them if they are excited to the move or something like that.

Depending on the officer they might also ask questions to verify the relationship.

Not necessary concerning your relationship to your husband, but the relationship of the children to the parents. They do sometimes need to check the family relationship.

The twins are from my first marriage. I'd like to think we have a nice blended family and the boys love their stepdad and he loves them. I don't foresee a problem there

He probably ment that you have permission to take them with you

Yeah, I asked about that at the Embassy but got no concrete answer. I have full custody and as per the law here I can take them anywhere in the world without permission from their bio father.
Then it was hinted I might need a signed affidavit from him saying I can...then I asked if this will be the case since I have full custody and I got a "the consular officer will decide that". Hmmm WHEN exactly??

That was a weird answer. Have you asked in the country specifik forum? That way you can get answers from people there have done K-2/CR-2/IR-2 at that embassy an see what they have?

I only need the full custody as well but again I don't know your embassy and what they want.

Here is the thing: VERY few Greeks have done Immigration at least on this site. I went through the members and e-mailed each and everyone one but most haven't logged in Visa Journey in YEARS. There is no recent info and all of them did K-1 or CR-1 without kids from past marriages.
I feel a little lonely lol

I did too with the K-2. No one had seen any scandinavian there had done a K-2 in years. But there was a really sweet person in our forum there had did a IR-2 years ago there could help me so just keep trying there will be someone.

Other wise you'll just have to go to the interview with proof of full custody and hope for the best.

I have already submitted proof of full custody to them
And in reality getting an affidavit from my ex shouldn't be a huge deal... We shall see!!
