Oh, so "300" is about the ancient Battle of Thermopylae (where 300 Spartan soldiers resisted against a large Persian Army)?

Is the stated "anti-Persian bias" that the film NEVER references the fact that a GREEK (Spartan) TRAITOR enabled the Persians to slaughter the Spartans?

(didn't see the film--the factoids were known prior)

No Ephialtes is in there - but instead of a goat-herder (such as is known about him), the guy is characterised as a deformed hunchback.

Its the physical depiction of the Persians (as a whole) as either weird sexual deviants or semi-human beastmen right out of Peter Jackson's production of Lord of the Rings. It's not exactly subtle...

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Yeah I agree with some of the others here. The best two movies I've watched recently were "The Departed" and "Blood Diamond." I really enjoyed both of these. I also like Babel.

Oh and I rented "Stranger than Fiction" but can't seem to get through it. Anyone else watch this movie and like/dislike it? I really don't have an opinion yet but I hope I can actually finish it soon.

I watched 'Stranger Than Fiction' this past weekend. I think I liked it! I enjoyed the ending. It was a little slow in the middle but I liked the concept.

It wasn't really rude, or vulgar. No real violence. Was just an interesting story I think!

But it wouldn't be for everyone

I loved it! It was very refreshing seeing Will Ferrell in a not-so-silly role.

Lovely.

Stranger Than Fiction was pretty good - though I am looking forward to Blades of Glory with him and Jon Heder.

The wife and I might see Zodiac tonight - to celebrate our receiving the NOA1 for my I751 and having the biometrics today.

I was really impressed with this: A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints It doesn't seem to be very popular (only 6.6/10) over on IMDB but it's one of the better movies I've seen in a while. I don't know if it's a movie worth a DVD purchase just because there doesn't seem to be much replay value but I'd definitely recommend a rental for a one-time viewing.

There's a Korean horror movie called The Host on select release. Have heard some good things about it. Of course its not playing anywhere near me - has anyone seen it to recommend it?

Yes, I saw it a week ago and it was very good.
