Report Marriage to Philippine Embassy

Hi everyone!

My fiancee arrived here last November via the K1 Visa, we got married this past January and have just sent in our AOS package. For those of you who went through the same thing, did you report your marriage to the Philippine Embassy?

Yup. For us we waited until my wife had her green card then did ROM and renewed her passport in her married name at the same time during an outreach event.

You can do ROM through the mail, it is fairly straight forward.

Nevermind about my question regarding the ROM deadline. Reading the Los Angeles Consulate site (http://www.philippineconsulatela.org/consular%20services/conserv-registry.htm#ROM), it says 12 months after marriage:

1. If the Report of Marriage is filed after 12 months of the date of marriage, an Affidavit of Delayed Registration of Marriage must be accomplished.

We reported our marriage abroad and later the birth of our child . After it processes through the consular you can request an official copy from the Philippine NSO. You can never have too much documentation for ROC down the road.

We never bothered with a PSA (use to be NSO ) copy. The embassy will send you a copy of the registered form with record numbers.

For sure!!!! I highly recommend get both names listed on any and all utilities/bank accounts/insurances, etc. as soon as possible. Then keep copies of all for the two years of conditional green card.

We didn't report our marriage for more than three years. We didn't have to submit an affidavit. The only reason we reported our marriage is because my wife wanted to reacquire her Philippines citizenship and get a passport.

Just did ROM last January. Had to submit a notarized affidavit to the LA consulate because I reported 2 years after our wedding.
