Does applying for a K3 cause any delays in the i130 petition process?

Yes. The I-130 is yanked out of it's place in the queue,

and put at the end of the queue with the newly placed I-129F.

as to how long is it going to delay the processing? it depends on:

1. duration between I-130 filing and I-129F filing plus

2. duration on joining up the two casefiles at a service center.

Sorry.

is he still in the UK? are you with him? If yes, look into a Direct Consular Filing of the I-130, into the London USCIS office. Sure, it's yet another filing plus money, but if'n yer looking to shave time, well - there's a path.

Thank you. He is no longer in the UK but we lived in the UK together for more than 2 years. I wish that we applied here but we didn't know.

The delay between i130 filling and i129f filling is 3 weeks. Also we forgot to send my G325a with the initial i130 but we sent it with the i129f. So maybe that could save us an RFE.

My husband contacted the military helpline and he was told: "The i 130 stays in place and they only attach the 129f to it. They are processed based on the date of the i 130" I am now confused.

ya, it's ok - it really is as NLR and I described it.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

was it a SERCO contractor? They make up stuff all the time, to get you off of the phone.

If you are, instead, utilizing the military hotline, ask that human specifically about getting a 'military expedite' and outlining the basis for that expedite to you.

Sorry for the double post. We can ask about the expedite yes. We haven't done it yet. What is a SERCO contractor? Sorry I am not very familiar with all of this.

If he actually has a deployment upcoming and occasionally PCS to a new base, you can try to get the case expedited.

USCIS call system is run by contractors, not actual government personnel. They're known as the misinformation line on VJ.

Thank you, we will try. But would that delay it even more if the expedite request is not approved?

I wish we didn't listen to that USCIS call system. Really.

No it won't delay it if the expedite isn't approved. It'll just continue processing as normal. If the timeline between your I-129F and your I-130 is really close (like a month) it won't make much of a difference. If it was a couple months it would. If it was like 6-12 months, it can bring the I-130 out of hiding to be adjudicated.

At least he's trying. My husband left every inch of the paperwork up to me except the items he physically had to pick up (IRS transcripts) or sign. He procrastinates something fierce to the I-130 that was supposed to be ready to send off when he became employed by the FAA waited over a month to be mailed.

It was fine in the end because it helped me feel like I was doing something but during the process I found it really frustrating and even a little hurtful.

Thank you for your nice words. We actually have 3 weeks of difference between filing the i130 and filing the i129f. I shouldn't blame him for trying...all he did was listening to this military helpline after all. But I will try to get more involved once we reach the NVC stage though. He already waited 2 months to send the i130 even though he had it ready early December and then yesterday told me about the i129f....

Also when he sent the I130 late January, he forgot to attach my G325a form.

But this time, he sent my G325a form. Do you think that we could still get an RFE for the missing G325a form with the I130, even though that they now have it as it was sent with the I129f?

Nope, just leave it and stop worrying. The USCIS stage is really hard because of the complete lack of control and knowledge about what is going on. We all totally understand that here.
