The whole immigration process is frustrating. We were stuck at USCIS for almost a year and then spent almost 2 years in AP. The only thing you can do is focus on your relationship and not the waiting. It will drive you crazy. The best thing to do is to have your husband reach out to a congressman who can make periodic inquiries on your behalf. There is nothing you can do to make AP go faster and there is no rhyme or reason as to why one person gets AP and another doesn't. This process is definitely a test of patience and the best thing you can do is realize that Allah has a plan and this is part of it. All the best to you and I hope your AP ends soon.

Thanks alot bro for every word you said. May God gives you success nd happiness.

Nd as far the timeline. My interview was held at Islamabad on January 26th 2016. First update was on feb 1st. Second update was on 11th feb. Nd till thn no more updates. How about urs!?

I have heard people saying that when they send an inquiry through congressmen or senator their case update date changes. But mine doesn't change after senators' inquiry

Did you contact the embassy yet and what is the outcome your senators inquiry ? Please update once you have any updates. I send email to the embassy and also contact my congressman lets see it his helps at all , at least I'll know if I'm in mandatory AP or it's just routine Ap .

No we have not contacted the Embassy yet. Nd when my hubby called the senator after 2 days of sending inquiry, they replied tht "ur wife is in AP nd its just the basic AP so it shouldn't take long "

But im really hoping tht I'll it issued soon. Idk why it's just the feeling. INSHA'ALLAH INSHA'ALLAH. You'll get urs too. Very soon. INSHA'ALLAH.

Nd do you think talking straight to the embassy would help?

Updates come and go. In the beginning they are putting your case through their processes. If they are waiting on a response from an agency for background checks then they wouldn't be opening your case. Updates show when someone goes in and opens your file.

Just a word of advice, don't focus on the update date changing. It will drive you absolutely insane. When you start getting calls from the embassy to come in, that is when your case is progressing to completion.

AP can last days, months, even years. It's a process that is outside of your control. This is a process that will push you to your limits and beyond. Try not to lose hope and trust in Allah that He has His plan and its what is best.

Keep in touch with your senator and have them check in with the embassy once a month to see what is going on with your case.

Thanks alot for your advice! Means alot to me. ❤️❤️❤️

Yeah we're thinking to talk to the senator again next month. Oh nd I never knew about the calls from the Embassy! Are they gonna call for the visit more investigation nd queries or just to collect my original documents nd passport!??

You know in this cruel thread when someone talks to you politely it gives you so much hope! May God bless you! Love

Huge difference between cruel and the truth.

Hi , my case status updated for the first time since 21january , now I can't figured it out whether it's been touched and someone is working on my case or it's just because of my email to the embassy thought I have'nt received any reply back from the embassy. Need inputs please.

Thanks

Anytime someone opens your file you will get a status update. For example, if you email them, they will open your file to review your case that causes the update date to change. So, email requests, when background checks come back, when CO is working on the case you updated date will change.

I think its more a matter of perception. The immigration process gives you surprises at every turn. When most people join, they are looking for help. New people see our responses as ganging up on them or cruel, whereas older members are just trying to give people the harsh reality of what immigration is all about. Some countries experience more difficult processes than others. I have alot of sympathy for this person because I went through years of AP and its super frustrating.

I know its very emotional when you are going through this frustrating process. Immigration is not easy and many times people come to this forum looking for support and answers. What you see as cruel really is just the harsh reality of immigration. Which is unknown to people when they start.

Could people word thngs a little nicer? Yes of course then can, but you have to see from their point of view as well. When you come in after a few weeks of AP and say that you are dying while many others on this forum (especially from countries like Pakistan) have been in AP for months or years its pretty irritating to them. Like rubbing salt on an open wound.

I am not trying to minimize your feelings, but you are not the only one in this situation and you just started.

This was the first time I talk about them in this way! Nd that too because they've crossed their limits! I was not the one who started all tht. If someone can't say anything nice they can leave. We are here for the support nd hopes. Not for talking bad about persons mental health! As you said you wouldn't know how our words gonna affect someone exactly their words were harsh nd i was hurt. I never knew people are in AP since ages! Before joining nd reading all the topics! I came here for some help nd support. But voila!

You might want to re read this thread.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

But you did start it, you were the one saying "I'm dying" and such. Nobody asked you if you were, as said before, if you don't like a post you're free to report it to moderators.
