Since you are already in AP, might as well just wait until you get the visa. If you do the E2 you would be starting the process from point 0 and basically abandoning and giving up on all the work you put in for this petition. Just be patient and start thinking of your new life in the US, think of what you need to bring, etc.

AP lasts as long as it lasts. There is no time frame. Senator inquiries cannot speed up an AP nor can it get it out of AP. The only thing the USEm will reply back to an Senator inquiry is that the case is in AP. It's frustrating, but it's a step in the process. I believe they conduct name checks with several international agencies and one person during our journey is that they may even send the applicant's passport to that country's MOFA (ministry of foreign affairs) to make sure it's legitimate. I've heard of them conducting phone record searches too, but I don't know how deep those 'personal' background checks go.

Am in the same boat aliya I got the same white form on 25 Jan 2016 from Isl embassy and he kept my passport too. But he didn't tell me how long I have to wait for AP and returned my all original documents everything and my case status doesn't change from that interview date. Me and my husband are so tensed about this. Am so depressed too :(

After San Bernardino, weren't they going to step up investigations of women more, as well as men, and also look into social media more?

You can request your passport back but if you are coming back through the US embassy then be prepared for another round..

You should calm down.. It's only been 3 weeks. some ppl have been in AP for over 1 year.
keeping calm will get you through this process...

I think there were a fair share of female applicants getting AP before the San Bernadino attacks, though. Articles that I have read said that the female attacker used a face Facebook ID to post whatever she may have, so the USEm would not have caught that anyhow.

It's up to each officer to decide which checks to run, from what I have read. Some are more extensive than others and most times they rely on the response from other agencies, so they are waiting to get to the next step too.

AP is normal. The CO told you one month so you would not keep calling the embassy with inquiries.

In reality, your AP can take a few months as you are from Pakistan, and the US has become more critical in their screening since the latest terrorist attacks.

And white form means 221g admin processing tick? Right? And did he take that paper from you on which your and your hubby mobile numbers and mode of communication is written?(bef interview it was given to me did you get that paper before interview?)

Yes i was given that form too. But im really bad at memorising phone numbers. So what happened that where i was supposed to write my number I wrote my fathers because I never know what my number was nd plus I've recently changed my number so it was hard to memories. Im worried about that too they might check my number nd wont find any calls/texts to my hubby. What do you think about that??

Thanks for your reply but im so annoyed that they have already took a whole damn year for the process they cudve done this investigation earlier. I feel so miserable that what possibly can i do to harm them if i get my visa?? Im just too fed up without being my hubby around Im 27! I really want to strt a family now It's getting late. But my hubby wudnt allow me to suffer from all pregnancy without him. He wants me there only thn he wud allow for the baby. Im dying. Im helpless. They should understand the pain of hung up there with no hope and so many problems. Please pray for me guys. Im SOO heartbroken SOOO exhausted!!!!

No, they could not have. The first part of the process is with the USCIS, their jurisdiction is within US boundaries and deal mostly with the US residing party to the petition. You are at the DoS stage - the Department of State - that handles the foreign side of the process. The USCIS deals with the green cards, and the DoS handles the foreign beneficiary's information. They are specialized for that country's culture, government and laws.

It's a complicated process and made more complicated given the actions of other people. In the 1970's, the USEm in Kabul was a regular building open to the boulevard. Now it has to be a fortified complex. Personally, I'm grateful that embassy re-opened!

I won't go into our details, but our AP lasted 59 days, then we were in NIV-Ready (the last step before the visa was issued) for another 40 days. While some people were issued visas much faster, even more waited (and are still waiting) for their visas much, much, much longer. You can't focus on things you can't control - you need to think about your future and about your outlook - the things you CAN control. I understand the feeling very much, going to work trying to stay positive, but just breaking down in tears waiting. Focus on your relationship because you will have that visa or no visa.
