Hey guys!

Me an my fiancé, We have a couple of questions regarding the next steps of the visa process.

When we look at the status of the case it says that it is ready to schedule the interview, but on the checklist and the US-Embassy website it says that we first have to send in some more documents such as the Affidavit of support, the document delivery address and others. I never received A letter with information or a guide about this. So now we are confused, whether we do have to do that first and then get a notification to set the interview, or what is the next step? Also I was wondering if you guys could tell me if it takes much longer now ? I just sent the DS-160 today and we have all the other documents collected, we just don't know if we are supposed to send them to the embassy. Talking bou affidavit of support and my criminal record, birth cirtificate and more. My medical examination is gonna be March 7th. Hope you guys can help me out. Because all sites tell different things and the official site for the embassy I go to does not clear things up at all. Thanks in advance!

This might help. http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Germany&cty=Frankfurt

Try reaching out to them for instructions: (this is a portion of the above link)

It is hard to get through on the regular phone number, don’t give up, let it ring. Someone picks up eventually…. Or the 0900 number.

Best way for questions about your petition if filed in person (DCF):
uscis.frankfurt@dhs.gov
Best way to contact Visa Unit:
online inquiry form http://germany.usembassy.de/email/ivform.htm
or email: frankfurtvisainquiries@state.gov
Email response times are pretty quick (2-3 days).

Here is what is says about packet 3:

Packet 3 Contains: - Cover letter with case number (the case number can also be requested in advance from the NVC via email)
- Instructions to follow the link to the website below. At this link you will be told which documents to gather and send to the consulate. Note: You can (and should) start that process a couple of weeks earlier before you receive that official letter with the link.
- "Residence history" form, to be sent to the consulate together with the other documents

Excerpt from a sample package 3:

Upon receipt of this notification, please download and complete the following forms and follow the steps outlined below
from:
http://germany.usembassy.gov/visa/iv/step5/#kvisa

Follow the checklist instructions, collect all documents listed, sign the "Request for a visa interview", include all required documents (original and one copy) and a copy of your payment confirmation from Roskos & Meier and mail everything to:

Thread is moved from the K-1 Process forum to the Embassy/Consulate forum -- topic involves that phase.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
