proposal = marriage in Ghana? (split topic)

This is kinda a silly question, but we're also dealing with the Ghanaian embassy, so I'm nervous about every little thing.... my Ghanaian fiance proposed "American style" (down on one knee and gave me a ring). Do you think this will be an issue? We didn't have any type of ceremony. He just proposed to me when we were alone on a beach, gave me a ring, and that's it.

Also, I see everyone suggesting that the couple who were denied file for a spousal visa now. If I go to Ghana for my fiance's interview and he's denied, can we just get married right away during that trip or do we have to do something to void out the K1 application first? Sorry again for the silly questions, but Ghana's notoriously difficult, so hoping for the best, but preparing for the worst. Thanks!

Yes you can get married right away while you are there if the visa has been refused and the petition Is being returned.

Consulate Received : July 30,2014 Transfer to right embassy complete.

Interview Date : Oct 22, 2014

Interview Result : AP , requesting another PC (not expired) and certified divorce decree (was submitted)Stokes interview via phone for petitioner 4 hrs after interview.

Oct 23 email notification visa approved.
Visa Received : Nov. 3 , 2014 VISA IN HAND.

July 21, 2017 HOME VISIT.  Went well. Topic thread in AOS forum.
Waiting to skip ROC and get 10 yr GC due to over 2 year while pending AOS
AOS APPROVED Oct. 4, 2017 * Green card in hand Oct 13, 2017 !!!!!

First K1 denied after 16 month of AP. Refiled. We are a couple since 2009. Not a sprint but a matter of endurance.

I don't see a problem with the proposal. Seems pretty standard and don't think a CO would make it an issue. And yeah you can definitely marry right away if your K-1 is denied but I think you'd need to wait until your K-1 has expired to file a new petition. Best of luck!

How he proposes is of no matter. If denied and if you wanted to get married you can do whatever you want within the rules and regulations of Ghana. Might be a waiting period or something you should check into what is required to marry there if you so choose.

Ghana embassy might be difficult but not difficult for God to handle on your behalf.. Do all you have to do, follow all instructions and most of all pray sincerely that the good lord gives you guys favor of that fateful day.. He's able.. Can't wait to hear your good news

You might not be able to get married the next day but you could be married in less than a week.. That will require expedite fees but you guys might not need to get married. Be hopeful! So far all those who get approved emphasized on being "firm" in your answers.
