 The exit row by the door is lovely just to NOT have someone in front of you reclining into your dang lap!

Thanks for that seatguru thingie, rch99!:yes:

As far as the best lines...I've heard it's Singapore Airlines... for comfort, service, and amenities.

The Asian airlines - Singapore, Cathay, the one out of Dubai - and BA are considered widely to be excellent in services. I recall seeing a recent publication about this before January and they ranked Air Canada as one of the best in North America... pretty pathetic, if you've ever flown Air Canada.

I'm not a frequent flier and unfortunately I've never had the chance to fly the carriers of real commendation. However, for me, there's no cause for this nickel 'n diming that our domestic carriers here seem to perform. I understand free market and all, but seriously, their service is terrible and there's not a lot in the way of amenities. Being canned like a sardine on a flight from Chicago to Seattle is not my idea of fun. Transatlantic/pacific must be even worse.

Seconded on the notion of kicking these oil companies into shape, too.

I would NEVER use NWA for international flights. With this recent ridiculous tactics that the airlines are trying to do, driving is much more fun and convenient for domestic travels. Of course it doesn't count if you do it for business, but maybe we can ask the companies where we work to give us more allowance to have aisle seats ?? :P

I'm claustrophobic so I only like the window seat if there isn't anyone next to me. I love looking out the window, but I can't stand being squished up between the wall and another passenger... so on a crowded plane I'll take the aisle seat any time for that perceived extra space (I say 'perceived' because if you actually put a foot in the aisle they tell you to move it...)

I had the best seat on the plane flying over - the last aisle seat available, which was right at the back of the plane next to the exit door and the toilet. Yes I had people walking past all the time, but I could get up as many times as I wanted to stretch my legs without disturbing anyone else... and as a bonus there wasn't anyone in the seat next to me.

What upset me recently on my trip overseas was that they want you to PAY for food and drinks too! that didnt happen on our international flight (which swiss air does a good job of keeping you full and hydrated) but on our flight from swiss to macedonia (a macedonian airline), they wanted us to pay for sodas and sandwiches! what a rip off! im paying ump-teen hundred dollars for these flights and they want us to pay 2.00euros for a can of soda? give me a break!!! with all of the money we spent on our trip you would think the least they could do is spring for a damn pepsi! i dont even need the whole can.......just a cup would sufice!

And ive heard that they do that here domestically too! (dont do much traveling in the U.S.). why is it so hard to pay a couple hundred bucks for a few 24packs of soda?

I aint cool enough for a signature.....

I prefer to sit in the front of the airplane. Quicker to get in and out (especially out when arriving). That wait while everybody in front files out is worse than waiting for the microwave to finish.

I'm 6'4" and it ALWAYS!!! seems like they give the exit row seat to some 4'9" woman.

I cant imagine an airline chargeing for exit row seats.

exit row is for those able to perform in the event of an emergency.

I was a gate agent we have guidelines for those allowed in those seats.

those seats I gave based on who ever asked me. if the person was Pregante or disabled I would tell them exit row is full. or if I happend to notice she was pregante or anyone disabled. I would have them move to another seat. exit row seats dont recline.

as for aisle. who in the he11 like getting bumped by the service cart anyways. I preferr window!

As I stated earlier, window=wall (you can lean on the wall, never on the empty space of aisle), which I find absolutely essential to help me doze on long-domestic or international flights (in "pretzel class"--I haven't yet been able to afford, or been upgraded to, first or business class on such flights).

I think it's bloody shocking to nickle and dime people like this. It'll get to the point where people won't make short-haul anymore because despite the cost of gas, it will cost less to drive than pay for this, and that, and the other.

Shocking.

Make sure you're wearing clean knickers. You never know when you'll be run over by a bus.

It's really rather simple. Employee concessions no longer pay for increased executive compensation at the airlines. Thus, the passengers will need to ripped off, too. What a nightmare to think that the top shots at these poorly run companies actually feel the pain a little as well...
