Packet 3/4, Medical, and Interview for K1

Hi Everyone,

I'm having trouble understanding which order to complete/schedule/send in documents for packet 3/4, the medical, and the interview for the Vancouver US Consulate, so have a few questions. I am anticipating the NOA2 any day now and would like to start compiling some of the documents with my fiancé (I am the beneficiary).

1) Should he (petitioner) start compiling his documents (minus the letter of intent because that has to be dated closer to the interview date), and send them to me now?

2) From what I understand from http://photos.state.gov/libraries/canada/303578/Vancouver/k_pkt3.pdf, I have to immediately send the Consulate a copy of the DS 160 page and obtain each of the documents or do the steps required, then fax them a copy of the completed checklist. Now the medical and the interview are listed in these steps, so how do I complete them all before sending a copy of this checklist back to them? I've heard that the doctor will not schedule the medical until after the interview date is set (http://www.drgulzarcheema.com//index-3.html).

3) If one of the documents isn't necessary to obtain (ie. divorce certificate) do I still check it or write "N/A" above on the Packet 3 checklist form?

4) Another question for those going to the Vancouver US Consulate: is there an average time it takes to get into a medical exam (couple weeks wait, etc.), or are they rather quick (ie. they could schedule one for next week)?. I have to travel quite a bit to Vancouver so am hoping to get it scheduled near to the interview time.

Thanks!

1)sure

2) you dont send them anything but the confirmation of the DS-160 and the completed checklist. Have the items ready for interview.

3) just check it. This is the first marriage for both of you?

4) generally theyre good about booking quickly after you set your interview date. The turnaround time for that doctor is the next day at 430pm. Remember your visa will be valid for 6 months after the medical date so have it as close to the interview as possible.

As a note you need those for interview NOT to send in the P3

Oh the Visa is only valid for 6 months after the medical date? Does this time include the 90 days after I have entered on the K1 Visa, or only up to that time that I enter the States?

Only the time you have to enter the US. The visa is no longer valid after it's activated.

regarding #3 and #4,

Yes first marriage for both of us :)

Does the doctor usually give you a choice of when to have the medical done as well? Or just the interview at the Consulate?

Thank you!
