Packet 3 clarification

I am looking for clarification on packet 3 for Vancouver. The minimum they want is the DS230 faxed to them. The checklist and DS156/DS156K can be faxed later? Thanks.

I would fax the DS230 and checklist back soon unless you are still waiting for a document on the checklist. Vancouver looks to be scheduling interviews about 4-6 weeks from receipt of checklist if you ask for their earliest date.

DS156 and DS156K are brought in, in person when you go for your interview. I think you need to sign those both in front of a consular officer. I know the DS156K for sure, not sure about the DS156. I'm interviewing for a K3 and I'm not signing my DS156 until I'm there.

Yes, you should fax back the checklist with the DS-230. Don't sign the other forms (DS 156, etc) until you are at the interview infront of the immigration officer there.

Fax the checklist back ASAP. That is how your interview date will be scheduled.

Thanks for the replies. The reason I was asking if the minimum that needed to be done was the DS230, is because we want to hold off with the interview for while. (court issues with ex-spouse) So should we just wait until that is resolved and send everything in at that time or at least fax back the DS230? One more thing, do you complete a separate DS230 for each child and fax that also?

Not sure about the children.

When you say "hold off for awhile" how long are you looking at? Because your petition approval might expire and if Vancouver doesn't get the checklist back from you for a long time, they may assume that you're not going to bother. What I would do is put in the requested interview date and specify that it be "no earlier than" a certain date.

You should still send in the DS230 now though. I believe when they get it, that's when they do their security checks.

We are holding off for a month or so. I am looking at getting an extention.
