Would ya look at this, we got a wise guy over here. I guess you know all about drainage, huh? Let me tell you something about drainage, buddy boy. My grandfather floated here on a goddamn raft from Hungary and landed at Ellis Island like hundreds of years ago and that raft was leaky like a sieve? You know how leaky sieves are, right? I mean even before the Chinese started making them, now that they do fuhgeddaboutit. It's crazy now. But I mean before. Sieves were leaky before, it was crazy. Crazy. Just like wow this thing can leak. Rafts used to leak like that too and the Europeans who came over on them were hardy people. All plumbers when they arrived no matter what they were when they left. The greatest generation, don't tell nobody tell you otherwise. Nobody. They were the best. They made America what it is today, when's the last time you walked into a nice apartment building on the west side and felt a drop of water on your back? Yeah, it don't happen much, that's why. Because the greatest generation was unselfish and only wanted the opportunity to work hard and make a penny. Not like the people who come in today, look at the refugee camps in Europe, it's crazy what's happening out there. Rapists, pedophiles, bank robbers. Not one of them can plug a leak because there's no water in the desert I guess (ha) but they all have cell phones. I wonder who they stole them from? Oh is that a skill? That counts for a skill these days, folks. I kid you not. It's crazy. Crazy. Liberals have turned the world upside down. Upside down. Someone's gotta turn this boat upside right again. This can't go on forever. It just can't.

I am sorry your grandfather suffered so, he lived so well so long though. Still, tomorrow's going to be another working day

And I'm trying to get some rest

That's all I'm trying to get some rest

Are we including cattle, with their superior methane production capabilities? Or is this just about the plight of critters like wayward chipmunks rendered homeless by climate change? I am unsure how worked up to get about this at the moment.

Seriously, I read some years ago (and didn't save the reference -- :bonk:) that the emissions from both ends of one Norwegian moose contribute more harmful gases to the atmosphere than does a car [of forgotten specific size] traveling the [breadth? length?] of Norway.

Boy, would THAT set the environmentalists against the animal-rights people!

Boy, would THAT set the environmentalists against the animal-rights people!

Methane (CH4) is the second most prevalent greenhouse gas emitted in the United States from human activities. In 2013, CH4 accounted for about 10% of all U.S. greenhouse gas emissions from human activities. Methane is emitted by natural sources such as wetlands, as well as human activities such as leakage from natural gas systems and the raising of livestock. Natural processes in soil and chemical reactions in the atmosphere help remove CH4 from the atmosphere. Methane's lifetime in the atmosphere is much shorter than carbon dioxide (CO2), but CH4 is more efficient at trapping radiation than CO2. Pound for pound, the comparative impact of CH4 on climate change is more than 25 times greater than CO2 over a 100-year period.

Globally, over 60% of total CH4 emissions come from human activities. [1] Methane is emitted from industry, agriculture, and waste management activities, described below.

  • Industry. Natural gas and petroleum systems are the largest source of CH4 emissions from industry in the United States. Methane is the primary component of natural gas. Some CH4 is emitted to the atmosphere during the production, processing, storage, transmission, and distribution of natural gas. Because gas is often found alongside petroleum, the production, refinement, transportation, and storage of crude oil is also a source of CH4 emissions. For more information, see the Inventory of U.S. Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Sinks sections on Natural Gas Systems and Petroleum Systems.
  • Agriculture. Domestic livestock such as cattle, buffalo, sheep, goats, and camels produce large amounts of CH4 as part of their normal digestive process. Also, when animals' manure is stored or managed in lagoons or holding tanks, CH4 is produced. Because humans raise these animals for food, the emissions are considered human-related. Globally, the Agriculture sector is the primary source of CH4 emissions. For more information, see the Inventory of U.S. Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Sinks Agriculture chapter.
  • Waste from Homes and Businesses. Methane is generated in landfills as waste decomposes and in the treatment of wastewater. Landfills are the third largest source of CH4 emissions in the United States. For more information see the U.S. Inventory's Waste chapter.

Methane is also emitted from a number of natural sources. Wetlands are the largest source, emitting CH4 from bacteria that decompose organic materials in the absence of oxygen. Smaller sources include termites, oceans, sediments, volcanoes, and wildfires.

To find out more about the role of CH4 in warming the atmosphere, and its sources, visit the Causes of Climate Changepage and the Greenhouse Gas Indicators page in the Science section.

5 guys is is pretty good. They certainly don't skimp on the fries.

Smashburger just started opening up in this area, they aren't that good compared to 5 guys and they're more expensive.

never had smashburger, they're more expensive than five guys? damn. five guys ain't cheap. thing about five guys is it's ultimately a waste of money unless you can eat a ton in one sitting. i couldn't eat that whole burger, barely half. and the fries - while there was a bag full of leftovers, they went in the trash because once cold they're gross. like most fries.

Not a lot more expensive but I can get a single patty cheeseburger, small fry and small tonic @ 5 guys for around $11.50. The same items at Smashburger cost me about $13 for the same. It might just be a local thing on the pricing, I'm sure it varies from state to state. But I wasn't impressed with the Smashburger experience at all, their fries are terrible even when they're hot. Fuddruckers still makes the best burgers around here imo, The 99 Restaurant is pretty good too.

yeah, probably comes down to location. we're like 20 years behind nova, so we have a couple five guys - we have a couple sonics, the obligatory mcdonalds on every corner. arbys. never had a fuddruckers, never even heard of 99 restaurant.

one cannot stand for terrible fries, however, no matter where they are in this great country.

We have a Sonic here, but I have never been. Every time we drive by it I tell wifey that we should try it some time, that's been going on for about 5 years. Wendy's is my fave out of the "big 3" (BK, Mcd's, the other 2). Do you have a Fuddruckers near you? If you do, you should give it a try. They are a little more expensive than the others, but you get what you pay for there, good portions and quality. The 99 is a New England chain kinda like Applebees but better.

i think sonic is gross, but my kid likes it all right. but then if he had his way, he'd eat mcdonalds every day. kid has no standards i tell ya.

the closest fuddruckers is almost an hour away, and i'd have to take the toll road. i'll probably never go.

oh we have two applebees, the food is terrible imo.

A small combo for 11.50. That's nuts. I can eat in a sit down restaurant here for way less. Local hibachi grill. 9 bucks . Includes hibachi make your own stir fry, sushi, crab and over 200 items
