Hello all,

I have searched the forums but could not find the answer I need and sorry for long post.

Basically:

1. My parents will arrive 1st time to the US this Thursday Feb 18th. (Green Card Visa) from Saudi Arabia.

2. My parents cannot just move now and will leave the US on March 9 and planning to come back in 7-8 Months. We want to apply for a I-131 Reentry Permit just in case to be on the safe side and not to lose their permanent residency.

My question is about the biometrics appointment.

When they did the interview here they took pictures and fingerprints and I think immigration will do the same at the POE (IAD Washington) if i am not mistaken.

I read here from USCIS: https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/USCIS/Resources/B5en.pdf that if the biometrics are obtained than they don't need to come in for an appointment though on the instructions for I-131 biometrics is required regardless.

Is it safe to assume they will not request them to attend a biometrics appointments and how can we confirm if they have their biometrics?

Thanks in advance

SB

hi

why don't they stay until they can come? they have around 6 months from the medical exam so they don't have to come immediately

plus the reentry permit is only used if they are staying out of the country for over 1 year and up to 2 years

they can stay out of the US up to a year without a reentry permit

so if they are only staying for 7 or 8 months, then no reentry permit is required

Hello and thanks for your reply.

Their Visa will expire on March 1st.

As for the Reentry Permit, I understand that it is meant for residents will stay abroad between 1 to 2 years but their circumstances might change later. we don't know.
