Hi, my wife is a Green Card holder. What family can apply for a tourist visa and realistically be approved. She has her father, a brother and a sister and all want to come and see our new baby.

I'm a US citizen and can sponsor.

Thanks

hi

it all depends if they can show strong ties to their country and convince the officer that the have reasons to return to their country

no one knows until they apply

Tourist visas cannot be sponsored. Applicants must instead prove to the satisfaction of the CO that they will return to their home country afterwards by demonstrating ties to it.

Does her father have more chances, then let's say her 22 year old sister? Her father owns a home has a job but I don't know what other assets. Her sister works, but being young etc they might think she has an intention to migrate, I suppose.

hi

each must show ties, it could be that the father has more chance to come

but once your wife is a USC, she can file the GC for him, and he can enter the country, overstay and get his green card through your wife

that's why every person who applies for a tourist visa is considered with immigrant intent and has to prove that they will return to their country, that the don't have intent to stay in the US

Does not cost much to apply and find out.

It does cost, not only the cost of the interview, but travel to Moscow or Kiev, hotel etc. Belarus does not have an embassy that provides interviews to anyone younger than a certain age or non diplomat. Unfortunately.

Thanks!

Compared to the cost of travelling to the US.

~Moved from Bring.Fam.Memb. of PR to America to Tourist Visa Forum~

~Inquiry about tourist visas~

They (your in-laws) will have to prove to the satisfaction of the US consular official at the interviewing US embassy/consulate, that they have significant ties to Belarus such that they would return to Belarus after their US visit is completed. Such ties could include, property, house ownership, current stable employment, etc. Each visitor visa applicant is presumed to have immigration intent, and must prove that they are not trying to immigrate to the US. A letter from a doctor, any documents from you, or any other invitation-type letter would likely have no positive effect on the visitor visa approval.

Good luck.

Factually correct and seemingly quite common so an issue in getting a tourist visa.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

Abella. My wife was here on a k-1 visa, before we were married some years ago, and they let her parents come then. So Your chances are really good. They also had to go to Moscow for the interview.Just make sure they have documents showing some of these things

1 house they own/apartment

2. family ties, (sister lives back home, grandkids etc)

3. a letter or paystubs showing a job.

4. birth certificate showing relationship.

It really wont be a problem as long as they show that they "have a life" back home. In my opinion, its unlikely the sister will be able to come unless she has kids or a husband staying behind. if she is single you can give it a try but dont get your hopes up.

Hope this helped.
