Household size for i-864 joint-sponsor

Hello, everyone!

I recently naturalized and would like to sponsor my mother by I-130. I am married, but my husband and I are still in school and so we don't meet the income requirements. My friend is willing to be a joint-sponsor for I-864. My friend is single and lives alone.

What household size would apply to my friend's I-864? I am trying to figure out if her income is sufficient to be the joint-sponsor.

Single and living alone is irrelevant, they base it on taxes, so if he claims anyone on his taxes at all then that counts to household size. If he has a child that he claims for then house hold is 2. If he has 2 children house hold is 3.

Joint sponsor doesn't claim anyone on taxes. So household size =2 (joint sponsor + beneficiary)?

Household size is the friend+ any minor children + anyone else they are currently sponsoring + anyone claimed as a dependent on the most recent tax return + intending immigrant
