Post-Interview Passport/Visa Courier option: Canada Post office or Home Delivery?

My wife's interview is scheduled in Montreal next month, and today we registered for her interview. During the registration, she selected the nearest Canada Post office to have her visa sent after her interview is approved (fingers crossed) in Montreal. There was also the option to choose home delivery for an additional fee.

I tried searching on the forums to see which option would be quicker or more efficient, but it seems that recently they've switched from Loomis/DHL to Canada Post, so alot of the prior forum posts aren't relevant anymore. Does anyone have any recent feedback as to which option is preferable (as in which is fastest without a history of delivery/pick-up problems?) The extra fee isn't so expensive, and my first instinct would be to choose the home delivery to make sure the passport gets put in her hands as directly and as soon as possible--but I've seen a number of people who've gone with the pick-up route at Canada Post. Any feedback would be appreciated!

It really depends. It depends on how close you are to a standard depot delivery locations and what works for you. The delivery requires a signature so the receiptiant must sign for the package. So if you choose optional delivery, the receiptiant must be available at that location at time of delivery to sign for the package. The optional delivery location can be home, work, etc, so it might be easier to plan. For me, I choose optional delivery as I am 40 kms from the closest depot delivery location.

I am about ten minutes from pick up option so I left it at the post office. I found it convenient and this way I wasn't paranoid about missing the delivery.

I agree that if it's at all convenient to pick it up at the post office, that's the simplest way, IMO...less opportunity for them to lose it and your tracking will show every step so you can be prepared for when it arrives.

I would rather let the post office receive it so it is safe there until you pick it up. I am always worried about postal workers leaving things without a signature or just losing them. This removes one layer of potential failure. That's my lo confidence in the postal service though.
