Just a hypothetical here, since I have always wondered about this.

Currently waiting on our AOS to be done with so I can get my greencard.

My employment authorization thing has been approved, so I am looking for work now.

I am not sure when they will call me up for an interview.

So yeah, what happens if she loses her job?

Also, since I can work now, can't I just support myself?

You will not be sent back just if your wife loses her job. She needs to be employed at the time you go for the interview. If the unfortunate happens and she is not, you can find a co-sponsor who will fill out the same forms as your spouse. The co-sponsor does not have to be a relative but has to be either a Green Card holder or a US citizen.

For the purposes of AOS you can "support yourself" but then you need to make the required income which is listed on the Poverty Guidelines 2015. You just would check off a portion on the I-864 where it says the person whose income is included is an incoming immigrant.

How long ago did you submit the initial AOS packet? It took us 6 months to get my husband's green card and we avoided interview by submitting LOADS of evidence.

Okay cool thank you.

Late august. But soon after it was received I got a RFE which I did not see for almost 3 months. So December 19 was the date my case resumed.
