Has anyone recently gotten their police background check from Long An province in Tân An city? My wife went toTân An in mid January and we are now waiting for the certificate to send to the NVC. I realize it's tet and not much happens this time of year. I am just curious how long it has taken other people. Thanks.

I'm from Dong Nai. It took me 6 weeks because I lived and studied in Singapore for a few years in the past so they needed to check with the Singapore side too (at least that was the reason they gave me)

Normally it takes around 10 days or so if your wife didn't live in another country or in other places in Vietnam before. My cousin got her within a week.

Good luck!

Mine took 3 days with VND 500,000 coffee money. The woman who worked at the Justice Dept even called my wife to let her know that it was ready for pickup. Coffee goes a long, long, long way in Vietnam especially when you have to deal with the bureaucrats!

Not sure if it is Ouch or Wow ...... coffee money ($25) 3 days or 39 days without. How do you go about politely offering and expediting the service with coffee money? What other step other than police background check might coffee money expedite service?

Thank you for and and all info

My fiance has been waiting for a month in HCMC. She didn't give them coffee money. Now the interview is only 3.5 weeks away and she is nervous. Should she give money?

My wife waited a week in HCMC and went back to check with them and they told her that it's not ready yet so this time she gave them coffee money and got the paper a few days later. So I would recommend coffee money if you want things to go smoothly.

Just slip 500,000 VND in a small envelope and tell whoever it is that handling your police check #2 you want him/her to take his/her family out to a nice dinner. Don't have to say much because they all expect something from you and everybody knows it. We gave 500,000 VND and the lady even called my wife to tell her that her police check #2 was done (3 days after she filled out the request). A friend of hers spent 1 million Dong ($50) and got it in 2 days.
