First off, Amy & Randy are on a K-1 visa and from the Philippines, so OP disregard that timeframe. No offense Amy & Randy.

Pkr, count an average of four months at NVC for a CR/IR-1 visa. It's gonna be about 30 days till you have a case number and IIN and you can do your DS-261 and pay the AOS fee. Then another month for the IV fee to open up and if you pay it straight away, another two weeks till you can do the DS-260. The review of your documents and the DS-260 takes an average of 30 days, given you don't get any checklist. You can see the timeframes in my signature.

Good luck at NVC.

Can anybody let me know how long does it usually take for the NVC process normally

How fast NVC moves depends on how involved and proactive you want to be.

Once my petition was approved and I got the notification that it was sent to NVC, I started calling NVC 4 days later to see if they received it. Then kept calling to see if they had a case number for me. I was able to get my case and IIN exactly 1 week after they received my petition.....that's not the norm. most people do have to wait between 2-4 weeks to get it. I got lucky.

Once you get your case number and IIN you will be able to login to their CEAC website and submit DS-261 (Choice of Agent). the AOS fee usually takes about 24 hours after they assign the case number to show as payable.

Once you submit the DS-261, call NVC and ask them to review it over the phone. Make sure you get the NVC Welcome email first. I called them before i received the Welcome email and the first lady i spoke with said she couldn't review it because "it wasn't sent" to me yet....even though i completed it the night before and had a confirmation email. I guess it doesn't show in their system as completed until that welcome email is sent. The lady that i spoke with was encouraging about calling to get it reviewed. She said not everyone does it and it does save weeks of waiting. Once they approve the DS-261, about 24 hours later you'll see the IV fee available to pay. Once that's paid, give it about 1-3 days for the bank to clear it and you'll see the IV application unlocked. (That's where I am now)

As you can see from my timeline in my signature, i'm getting everything done in 1 week of receiving the case and IIN. I'm waiting for my husband's documents to reach me and will submit everything by Monday at the latest. Since NVC only needs photocopies, i would have submitted everything yesterday, but my husband didn't want to go to an internet cafe and scan everything for fear of his information not deleting permanently off those public computers.

I'm hoping to get a case complete by NVC by mid - end of March, if i'm lucky. that would be almost 2 months at NVC. Hopefully Mumbai will schedule an interview for April.

Hope this helped! Good luck!
