Hello,

I am asking this question on behalf of a friend. She(a naturalized US citizen) is 55 years old and her huband is 46 years old. They both are from the same country (Ethiopia) and have the same culture. She traveled there last month to get married to him. She has been divorced for 5+ years and has two children( 16 and 18) from her previous marriage. He has been divorced for slighlty over 1 year with 2 kids as well (3 and 5). Their evidences are phone calls, text messages, money transfers she made to him, and pictures from the wedding with family and friends. She is getting ready to submit the paperwork for spouse visa but she constantly worries that the age gap is going to be a major issue at the US embassy. I don't know why she didn't think of that before the marriage but is there any hope for them? Any advise I can relay is appreciated.

I am 21 years older than my husband and we had no issues. A visa cannot be denied based on age alone, it's discrimination. As long as they prove they have an ongoing, bonafide relationship they should be fine
