Good Day,

I am filipina who is currently working here in Abu Dhabi United Arab Emirates and a single mom with daughter and never been married. My bf would like to apply a fiancee visa in USA. However, I need your advise where I should have my interview that it will not be hassle for me and also completing the requirements for interview.

It would be great if you will share you experience that will guide in processing our fiancee visa in the near future.

Forgive me if I'm mistaken, but I thought that you don't really get much choice in where the interview is held based on what you put as your address? I assume they always give you the closest office to where you are living.

Actually, on the Form I129F, there is a question where it asks where you'd like your interview to be held. You have a valid visa for the UAE so it's perfectly fine if you put UAE for that question since you are residing there legally.

This is what I meant, as it makes sense that she's already living there. Sorry for the confusion with my statement!

Oooh okay, I got it. OP also has the option of interviewing in the Philippines since she is citizen of that country. She would just need to list the name of the consulate on the I129F form and go back to the country in time for her medical/interview.

Hello guys. I really appreciate all of your quick response.

I have a residence visa here in the UAE and will expire in January 2, 2016 but still my company is still willing to extend.

I was trying to asked if where is the best place for me because I am afraid due to the following reasons:

1st- If I will have my interview in the Philippines, I have to come back there for interview and it will not be easy for me because I only have 30 days annual leave. Also, I don't know how much it will take in the Philippines if I have to do my medical test there and maybe I have more things to comply with regards to medical.

2nd - If I will have my interview here in UAE, I am just a little bit scared that they will not approved our visa because I am a single mom and have a loving daughter; (I mean we all know that UAE are really religious so will they be bothered of my status, does it make sense?

So, what do you think guys?

1st - I believe the medical results will be handed to you directly and you will need to bring the sealed report to the interview. Usually this process takes 2-3 days. The only hiccup that you may have is if they suspect TB, then you will need a sputum test which would take about 3 months.

2nd - The COs at the embassy will actually be American and they cannot hold you to your lifestyle based on the culture of where you're residing. All they will look at is your relationship and whether it is bona fide or not.

either your date is wrong or the residence visa is already expired.

now I am totally enlighten and confident to have my interview here in the UAE,Inshallah.

Thank you very much specially to Teaak.

Have a great day to all of you. :) :) :) :) :) :)

inshAllah, all will be fine!

I also agree with the above poster. You should double-check your residency visa and coordinate with your company to make sure it is valid during the K-1 process.

Do look into the police certificate also. You may need one from Philippines in addition to the UAE.

I would normally agree with your 2nd Statement, as you are correct..BUT, just because they are American, doesn't mean they don't hold personal prejudices being a resident of that country. Yes, they may be American, but 90% of the embassy staff (the worker bees, not management) are from the local country where the Embassy is. They still think, act and hold the same values of the country where they are living. That doesn't make it ok, but it's just something to consider.

Case in point, I personally know a friend whose Visa was denied because they felt it was inappropriate conduct. We can't prove it of course, those kind of things are rather difficult to prove. But, it does happen. Embassy staff often get a bad case of "I am God" syndrome and their personal prejudices get in the way of doing their job properly.

Just food for thought.......

It actually depends on the language you chose to get interviewed in. My husband is Turkish and he could choose to get interviewed in English, Turkish or Farsi. He chose English and got an American who was super nice.
