Peoples I-129F petitions seem to be getting approved fairly quickly...

Hey guys!

So we submitted our I-129F petition the other day, tracking it with USPS and it should arrive at the Dallas Lock Box facility hopefully today! Got a couple of questions I'm wondering if you guys can help me with...

1) I know the go to answer for petition times is 5 months as per the USCIS website, but I've noticed alot of them are getting processed quicker - as an example someone had theirs approved just recently when they filed in October - thats pretty quick! Is this common?

2) Whats the deal with the multiple processing centres? I've read that some of them are notoriously slow, some of them are better than others (IE CA being the best one etc.) is there any truth to this or is it just hear-say?

Do to backlog TX don't do them since 27th march 2015 so as for now every petition is send to cali

At the moment as far as I know all I-129f petitions are being sent from Texas lock box to CSC. We have no idea if this is going to stay or change in the future (or at least I don't). They are processing in around 40-50 days at the moment which is much quicker than the 5 months they used to take before. But no one has any idea how long this will last.

If you update your timeline it will give you an approximate adjudication date. Also you may want to correct your consulate to the correct embassy. It is currently showing the default Armenia.

Yes, it looks like it's moving very fast, some people get their visa in 2 months! We are hoping to be between them. We do have the big age gap (30 years, I am much older than my future husband yet he is so much more mature and independent than I am) but it does not bothers us, it was before to start dating, we both were trying to stop it, it didn't work, lol! So now, not worrying, just loving each other and doing what needs to be done for to be together in marriage and everything

The "5 months" means that the goal time is 5 months and they are within that goal time. What you can see on Visajourney timelines is that CSC is taking an average of 42 days to process them. 42 days is within 5 months. They do this because they are "allowed" to take up to 5 months, and they don't want to post live statistics because otherwise they'd have every filer calling off the hook on day 43 demanding to know what the delay is.

What was happening before, when they were being processed at Texas and California, is that they were sending the same amount or higher percentage of files to Texas, which clearly had far less staff. This made the average time at Texas 210 days (7 months) vs California which (at the time) was 21 days (3 weeks). After a *huge* effort by Visajourney folks, this mistake was noted and now all files have been going to CSC since late March. And it is clear that CSC has far more staff than TSC because in those 10 months, the average processing time at California has remained very, very fast-- well below the 5 month goal time. So instead of half of the applicants getting super duper lucky and half getting totally screwed, 100% of applicants get lucky (just not "super duper" with a sometimes 4 DAY turnaround). Yay Visajourney.

No one knows, they don't announce these things until they're done.

The good news is that IF they start sending to Texas again, there won't be any "line" there, and at least the initial applications would go through fast. The issue was basically a line. A line out the door and around the corner, with more people arriving in the line faster than the staff was processing. And no, apparently USCIS didn't notice this problem. If they're better at balancing the workload in the future, this should never happen again. Or suddenly CSC could be the slow center (if, for example, staff gets pulled off i-129fs for other visas, or new programs--- which is what the "rumor" is what happened in Texas-- that staff was pulled off i-129fs to handle DACA applicants. Not sure if I believe that). No way of knowing. Just know that at least for now, everyone who has applied recently and will apply in the near future is in a very good spot.

Pretty crazy, I thought the processing times were pretty long based on another forum I use (British Expats) - who were saying to anticipate 8 months for the NOA2!

The problem is not at the USCIS approval stage but at the appointment setting stage lol. After USCIS, its NVC then its Embassy.... the Embassy part is the bottleneck for appointment so far at least for China lol no appointment available....

They're pretty out of date then. The last people to apply who were facing an 8 month wait for NOA2 were people who applied through the end of March 2014. Trust me this was a big, big thing here this time a year ago, and I applied right into it and was a part of the push (to the degree permitted by my employment-- long story there) to get the situation fixed.
