Hi

I received Notice of Interview Cancellation for my AOS case (F1 to GC after marrying USC). The online case status reflects the same on the USCIS website. The problem is that I never received the original interview letter for the said date (March 8th 2016). Initially, I was bummed that interview was cancelled but soon realized that I was not going to be in town that whole week anyways. However, I have read some horror stories of people getting denials for not showing up on the cancelled dates. I cannot show up on the cancelled date because a) I won't be in town and b) I never received the original interview letter.

I would like some advice on what to do next. Should I call the number at the bottom of the cancelled interview notice OR setup infopass OR just sit back and wait for the date. I checked the local CIS processing times and they were processing Feb 18th 2015 priority date on Nov 30th 2015. My priority date is Aug 2015. I find it hard to imagine that the office moved 6 months of paperwork in 2 months that included Christmas/Winter break. Is it possible that my interview was scheduled by mistake?

Thanks in advance.

Washington DC.

I called the USCIS customer service line this morning. The case status has changed to "As of February 8, 2016, we are ready to schedule your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status, Receipt Number MSCXXXXXXX, for an interview". The customer service rep said that they cannot access any updates that happened before the current status. He told me that the local office might have more information.

Should I make an INFO PASS appointment and show up at the local office. It will be a pain to drive 2 hours to get a simple answer but I don't want to risk anything.

It is a bummer but sounds like an info pass is your best option.

And here is why: we filed in "July" (july27th) So basically we filed in August (NOA 1 was Aug.4th)

And when I called in November they told me they were processing February. (LasVegas)

BUT in a few days we were scheduled for an interview for February 2nd. - I was SHOCKED because it seemed like we would be waiting forever since the office was back logged.

We also did an info pass - it is not going to harm you, if anything it will, to the contrary, show that you care about your case.

I think It would look worse (my opinion only don't judge) if you did absolutely nothing about it.

With that being said, we went for an info pass regarding some questions I had and they were all friendly and helpful.

No one will think bad of you just because you will show them genuine concern regarding your case.

Hope this helps and good luck!

My green card came in the mail today.

Thanks and congrats on your GC

You said you called and they told you they were processing Feb cases? You called your local office or national helpline?

I scheduled info pass for next week but really hope I get a new notice before that. I don't want to drive 2 hours one way to hear "Sit tight and wait for new interview letter"

We called the national number in December as I was getting concerned and we were told that office was processing February applications of 2015 so I figured we had another 5 months and wasn't going to worry, when not even 3 days later they
