Hello everyone,

So me and my fiancé met on facebook we used to communicate by viber calls it is in december 2015 that we sent some messages,so i can proove our discussions just from december than we met face to face in january 2016 i can proove it as well,we have tickets, photos,hôtel réservation...

And now we discuss more with messages so we can keep it as proofs

We are planning to see each others again in martch 2016 and of course we will keep the poofs

So the question is: is it ok if we send our k1 application in april2016 or it will be seen like we did things fastely? Especially that we have already red flag (age différence)

So i wanted to have your advices about this maybe your personal experience also...??

Help please!

Thank you

Sure it's fine to file in April. Legally you have met the requirements.

Whether you are ready to get married by the end of this year is something only you two can answer.

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Something to consider (this from your other post). Are you dual citizen French-Tunisian or Tunisian citizen legally in France with a Carte de Séjour (residency permit)? Since Tunisia is a North African country that might slow the process and take a little longer. I would do more research on K1 process for Tunisian citizens on the VJ boards.

Good luck.

In your topic title you're asking how long after you meet you should get engaged... That's only something you can answer. Either you're ready or you're not. Since you may or may not be from a country where getting a visa is hard, I'd say read up on the process in Tunisia and how much they have to go through. Get at least another visit in and then apply.

I am Tunisian living legally in france with carte de séjour(student)

Do you think i should go to visit my fiancé in USA to betterr proove our relation or it is same thing?..when we apply we will already have 2 visits face to face

Ps: the embassy that will make the process of my visa is paris not Tunisia since i am resident here in france

The fact that you're only on a temporary visa in France will not take away from the fact that you're Tunisian. It could effect your chance of getting a visa.

Thanks for answering,

First we are ready to engage but i read that making things in short time is a red flag to USCIS that's why i asked, but in k1 application we have to meet each others minimum 1 time ,in april we will have 2 visits (january and martch) ,i think that it is enough, can you please tell me why you think that we should have another visit? As my fiancé works and doesn't have lot of time to visit me each period i wanted to make the application directely after our second meeting..

Also,i wanted to understand why do you want me to know more about processing in tunisia, isn't the application in USA?? As i know we have to apply first in the immigration office in Dallas then WHEN WE GET THE ACCEPTANCE we moove to the next step wich is visa in the embassy(my embassy is paris not tunisia as i am résidant here)

There is never enough face2face time.

She means that even though you are living in France and will be dealing with the embassy there. You are and will be Tunisian.

It's not the same as being from France, Tunisia are a country where it can be harder to get a visa from.

How long have the two of you been together? Me and my now husband was engaged for 4 months before we sent in our papers, don't think it matters much how long after engagement you do it. But how long you have been together can factor in the outcome of the visa if you have red flags in your relationship.

You are born in Tunisia, people from Tunisia have a harder time getting a visa. Yes, most of the application part takes place in the US but then it is sent to the embassy, in your case it will be sent to France. BUT you are on a temporary residence visa in France which means, the fact that you're originally from Tunisia could most likely be a factor in how hard it will be for you to get the visa. So you should look at how other couples from Tunisia has handled their interview, how much evidence and time spent together they needed to get the visa.

Yes, seeing each other 1 time is the minimum requirement for the K1 visa but that doesn't guarantee a visa. Even though you have fulfilled the minimum requirement doesn't mean they won't think it's fishy if a couple hasn't spent much time together before taking the huge step of deciding to get married.

You don't understand because you haven't read enough about this process :)

They questions you have a good but you'll have to do research yourself too. look at the forum for Tunisia.

Because some countries are just harder to get visas from do to many things. Some countries need more face2face time then others, some needs more evidens and front loading and so on. Therefore you should read about these so you know how your package should look like.
