Celebrate Canadian-American Days in Myrtle Beach!

Until March 17, 2007, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, is extending a extra-special Southern welcome to Canadian visitors during its 46th annual Canadian-American Days.

Special guests this year will be Canada's Ambassador to the United States Michael Wilson and the U.S. Ambassador to Canada David Wilkins. Both Ambassadors will take part in a variety of activities including the inaugural Canada-Carolina Trade & Commerce Forum, March 15-16. The Forum is open to the public. Registration begins at noon on March 15 and is followed by an overview of the local region, state and Atlantic Canada region. The day continues with remarks by both ambassadors and a panel discussion entitled "Crossing the Border: Perspective on Doing Business in Canada and the U.S." On March 16, registration begins at 9 a.m. and the forum begins at 10 a.m. and continues with a panel discussion on the "Innovation to Commercialization: Competitiveness Issues in Canada and the U.S.".

Other events include a cross-border country music concert featuring America's Lonestar and Canada's Doc Walker, and performances by military bands from both Canada and the United States in "A Salute to Canada".

And of course there's plenty of beach time, a National Shag Dance Competition, a Can-Am Soccer Tournament, Can-Am Little Olympics for the children, a kitefest, and a St. Patrick's Day Parade and Festival on March 17.

Many Myrtle Beach area retailers, hotels and restaurants are extending special offers to Canadian visitors during the Canadian-American Days. It's their way of saying "Thank You for Visiting." “...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
