My wife was out of status (in limbo is another term I've heard) for just over a month before we filed for AOS. We had to wait because we wanted to have a winter wedding and wanted to plan it together in person (as well as catch up on being together as soon as possible. We got married within the 90 day window but took a bit of time to prepare the paperwork due to Christmas being so close and preparing everything to my obsessive compulsive exactitude with paperwork. Just don't wait too long once you get the funds. You can at least prepare all the paperwork now so when you do have the money you can just write the check and send it out. I've seen many members here with AOS Filings past their 90 day entry window, it's more common than you think. A month isn't bad at all.
