The lady needs suggestions...if you don't have one I think it'd be better to just not comment. She's distraught and some of you are further putting her in the dumps and discouraging her. Besides VJ being a community of information-sharing, it's also a community of support. Now my advice.....actually I've got none right now. But all I wanna say is you have to stick to your story and maintain that you were not married to those guys. If only that's what truly happened. Immigration fraud is despicable! I hope that's not what it was about. If the CO wanted to deny you or he didn't completely believe you, he'd have denied you. Maybe he wants to see if you'd budge. So stick to your story.

There are no suggestions, she's pretty well good and boned, ESPECIALLY trying to come from Ghana. In fact she has the Holy Trifecta.

Lied on an application, no proof of anything, seeking approval in Ghana.

She will basically never join the sunny shores of milk and honey in the US.

Avery Cates who are you to say she won't be successful? I've seen a lot of couples overcome worse on this journey. Also, I do agree with Afedzi_gh. You should definitely stick to your story and explain to them what happened. Were you in school both times during that 6 year period when it happened? How old were you when you first applied for the DV? Wish you the best!

Every year, during the time for the dv lottery, the embassy in Ghana advises on doing it yourself to avoid stuff like this..now in your case, you were not adequately informed hence u became a victim of some of three charlatans. what u have to do when u go back to the embassy in April is to explain exactly how that some guys took your details and did it for you, they will probably understand and with the backing of God, I have faith you'll overcome... don't listen to those giving you discouraging comments, keep head clear and do a lot of research and most importantly, u need GOD, to fight for you. he'll if u ask him

Sure, what do I know.

It will probably be perfectly fine.

Kingjulian God will not set this straight. I'm sure God will keep his fingers crossed for a good outcome but to say that he will fight for her if asked is a long shot. I still haven't seen God applying for a visa or sending in a response on a ref

My post was not meant to upset the postee, but there is no sugar coating and building up hopes the postee needs to know they aren't dealing with a kind set of consulars in this embassy! Yes you can pray and explain what happened but I'm just saying do not get your hopes up, unless you intend on finding these men they say your married to and actually divorcing them then refiling with proof of a divorce.

First of all, some people here are very discouraging. Don't let it get to you. still fight!! You are in a very tough spot however, it is definitely not the end of your situation. Go get the declaration that you have been single for the time period before marrying your husband(i believe from the commissioner of oath or something like that) and explain to the counselor that you were misrepresented without your knowledge. Explain you were young and that you were just a student and everyone was filing it out and giving their information because these individuals guarantee a chance of getting you a visa into America. You didn't know they altered your info. Explain you didn't think anything of it since and you just assumed you were not the chosen few who got a visa.

The counselors are very aware of the situation in Ghana and at the end of the day, they are human; some tough heavily scrutinizing ones (who by the way are just doing their job of protecting our U.S. borders, don't forget but nonetheless still human beings. They might overlook it or penalize you for it but it is always worth the try and there is nothing to hard for God, it's nothing for him to have the counselor find favor of you for a split second.

  • If you get the latter and they still deny you on the basis of misrepresentation, you will have to fill out a waiver form i-601and state that staying separate from your spouse could cause hardship on him here in the states because you all are a one household unit and he needs his wife to be with him, etc. if they deny you can still file to appeal. Praying for a better outcome. besides you have a chance here, the counselor could have denied you on the spot because they can and usually do so be thankful and start praying and working towards your next interview.

I agree. Anyone applying for a US visa is held responsible for the content of the forms and no "oops" issues like this will be regarded as a mere

"mistake" no matter how you beg and plead.

This is exactly what many do when they win the DV lottery, all of a sudden they are married and so and so also makes it on the shirt tail of the

winner, for a sum of course. Not saying the OP did such but with DV and B2 lies and fraud the embassy will not just say ok we believe you.

This has consequences and what we do today can bite us tomorrow.

Misrepresentation waivers are available but hard to get approved unless extreme hardship is proven.

We can cheer someone on and mislead her chances or be frank and tell the hard facts so OP can go into this with both eyes open or once again

both eyes shut which did not work in her favor the first time.

So similar thing happened to my brother-in-law in 2003. He applied for a B1/B2 visitor visa, got approved and asked to come for his visa after 3 days. On the day of collection they informed him there had been a problem and as a result he has been denied a visa to the US and banned from entering the US indefinitely. what was the problem?

About 5 years before this incident, a former girlfriend of his had applied for the DV lottery and put his name as her husband. She won and processed it but by then my in-law and her weren't together again so my in-law wasn't informed and wasn't involved in the process. This lady managed to include a pastor in Ghana to be in the place of my in-law. meaning the pastor got processed bearing the name, DOB and every other biographic details as my in-law. My in-law didn't know anything about this.

So it was after my in-law's interview the embassy found out that a person bearing the same biographic details was living in the US. to them it didn't sound right.

To sum it, my in-law was informed about the whole issue. He was denied and banned from the U.S. although he didn't have anything to do with it and the Consulate even acknowledged the possibility of him being just a victim of visa fraud.

So what am I trying to say? It is sad this has happened to you but looks like the future regarding your approval looks very gloomy. But hey anything is possible. Lets keep hope alive and keep praying to God for a miracle.

All the best!

Hi... Am new and not sure if this is the right forum for my question.

I went for my interview at the Ghana consulate.

At the interview, the CO asked whether I have married before I got married to my husband... No

Then he said am lying because I applied for the dv lottery in 2006, n said am married to a guy, then in 2012, I applied again n said am married to another man with a different name. So I should bring the divorce for the two marriages.

I told the C.O I don't know those guys... And that's the truth.

Now my problem is...

Some guys came to our school to register us for the dv. And what they do is they will take our pictures n take our details, send it away and that's all. So they added those guys to my details without my consent... Please any advice...

Am confused cos I don't know these guys. Am expecting to go back to the embassy in April

Hello Mrabosa,

I am sorry that u have been a victim to these guys. I believe the only thing is to explain to them. If they doubt they can cross check at the marriage registry or maybe can you get a statment from the AMA or KMA testifying that this is your only marriage?

All the best.
