So, I received my approval notice dated 02/28/17 and the day before there was an update to my case that "Name was updated". I called USCIS then and spoke to a tier-2 officer to file a service request for the name change to update it because apparently there was a typo on the application or a typo made on their end. Anyways, I was told to call back on 03/17/17 to get an answer on that service request. I called today, requested to speak to a tier-2 officer and the following conversation happened after he confirmed my identity and such:

IO: Sir, says your case is still pending. Did you receive any mail from us?

Me: Yes, I received an approval notice.

IO: That is not possible. Your case is still pending.

Me: But I have the notice.

IO: Can you read what the letter says?

Me: Sure. "Congratulations! Your request for the removal of the conditional basis of your permanent resident status has been approved. You are deemed to be a Lawful Permanent Resident of the United States as of the date of your original admission or adjustment of status.

IO: This doesn't sound like an approval to me.

Me: !!!!

I have been quite lucky lately to speak to really understanding and polite IOs, but this one reminded me of how unreasonable and illogical they can really be. Needless to say that I thanked him for his time and got off the phone. And called USCIS again and requested to speak to a tier-2 officer which the wait for was 180 minutes as opposed to 10 minutes the first time this morning.

This is only shared for your amusement. I am still laughing at him saying "This doesn't sound like an approval to me."

Maybe they forgot to update their system again! LOL

Ok! I am  February 2016 filer as well! I went online today to check my status and its saying that my case was assigned to an officer for response....I made an inquiry over the phone with a Tier officer about 2 weeks ago and received a letter last week saying its under review and I should have an answer within 90 days of that notice..I am so confused as to what is really going on.

I made some research, they send cases sometimes to local offices because it's faster for them, and of course some case for scheduling an interview, let's hope they making they decisions soon as possible.

When my husband went in for the infopass on March 6, the officer said his case was assigned to an officer since Feb 17, but now its over a month with no response... Not sure why it is taking so long..

After a year wait we finally got our approval letter. Glad this leg of the journey is over :)

Hope everyone still waiting doesn't have wait much longer.

Drum roll! I finally received my NOA, approving the removal of conditions. I still can't really believe it! And it happened just a couple of weeks after contacting the ombudsman's office - perhaps that's what did the trick!

Thank you to everyone for your support and encouragement.

Now, will have to wait 60 days for the green card. Is there some way to track it? My status has not changed online at all since last year.
