Just wanted to report in that there were no issues getting the stamp at the Manchester Field Office (NH).  They did take away his green card, as expected, when they put the stamp in his passport.  At least he's all set for another year.  I am hoping that we start seeing Feb 2016 filers approved next month.

Got I-551 stamp in passport (expires 3/9/17) and gave up Green Card. 

 

Still waiting to hear anything since biometrics?

I'm eligible to apply for naturalization too. So I called USCIS customer service to ask if I can apply and they said you can't be approved for citizenship until the ROC goes through. I don't think that would be a problem timewise (knock on wood!) but how do you update your N-400 application once you get the 10-yr Green Card? The folks from customer service didn't have helpful answer to that question!

NotLarry, from what I understand, submitting the N-400 petition before the ROC is approved will "force" them to adjudicate the ROC and the N-400 simultaneously. So, there will be no need to resubmit the N-400 after the ROC is approved. (I don't know if they even issue 10-year cards in these cases...) maybe someone else here knows more about this?

Thanks ToRo, this is a tough call then. Given the updates on here and the USCIS processing times, I assume the VSC should start working my ROC (NOA date 2/12/16) any day now. While I want to get the citizenship show on the road asap, I'd also really like a valid Green Card to carry in my wallet for the 8 months or so the naturalization process will take. I live within 100 miles of the border so can be stopped anytime by CBP and asked to prove my immigration status. That means carrying my passport with the I-551 stamp everywhere. Back when I was on a non-immigrant visa and had no other form of ID, I also used to bring my passport everywhere and it got damaged from spending too much time in my jeans pocket. Dealing with two national immigration bureaucracies at once is not something I want to do again! 

 

I guess I'll wait another couple of weeks on the N-400 to see if there's any movement on the ROC application. Fingers crossed the VSC  starts processing some of us Feb. 16 filers soon!

Well atleast its reflecting a date in December now. Unbelievable as to how slow they are. Heres hoping it will move a lil faster. I dont understand why it takes so long. Its crazy slow.

Fellow February filers, I just thought I'd let everyone know that I received my approval letter this past Saturday, 1/21. I filed on 2/1/16 so you guys should start receiving things in the next few weeks.
