I have exactly zero empirical evidence for my habit of calling in the minute that my case goes over the minimum processing time (6 months in our case for CSC applicants) BUT I have done it with each of my 3 applications and within 24 hours I get action on my file - 3 approvals in my case. This time around I wasn't paying attention to my 6 month application date but when I realized I was a couple of days beyond 6 months I called in with a service request mid week last week. Since the agent was able to confirm that my case was a few days over their 6 month processing goal, I was given an escalation to a Tier 2 agent but due to high call volumes (or something or another) I was put in a call back queue and that call came back on Friday the 26th. The agent confirmed my information, told me that my case was still processing and that (get this) because it was an election year (really!?!?!?) cases were taking a little longer than expected to process and that the CSC was actually at 9 months processing time for the majority of their cases, which is clearly BS based on our small sample population here in the forum. She then told me to call back when my case hits the 9 month mark.

I literally received a case status update 3 hours later for card production.

I have a half-baked theory that while calling in/making a service request does nothing to expedite your case processing it DOES call your case file up on someone's radar and I believe there is a possibility that if your file is uncomplicated it might just lead to a rubber stamp situation and they just move you along. Again, completely circumstantial and more like my own little brand of superstition but it has been the same for my last 3 applications (K1, PR, and ROC).

IMO there is no harm in calling in a status request other than the 15 minutes of your life you might lose being on hold with terrible music.

This the third I751case where you file a service request, approval comes either same day or next day (Agree on the rubber stamp part).

CamAm68, can you give me the number you called for this? Also, which WAC number did you use when asked, the one received with the NOA1 or the later one received with the biometrics appointment notice?

Trying to fill out a service request on the website still brings up the "your application is currently within the posted processing times" invalidation message, so I am unable to do it through that.

I really do hope we don't end up as one of the blanks sandwiched between all others' approvals. :(

Zakuansamia and Leon & Mylen - happy to walk you through the service request process that I used.

You can call USCIS at 1-800-375-5283 during normal business hours and you will be taken through a series of recorded voice prompts. You have to pick your language first I believe but after that you want to inquire about a case (which is prompt #2 if memory serves). It will ask you to input your receipt number ( the one from your biometrics notice) BUT I follow the prompt that asks you if you forgot your case number or can't find it and it will direct you to an agent. The agent will ask you the receipt number (from your biometrics notice - same one you use to check your status online) and will have you confirm some personal info. If you are beyond 6 months processing time for CSC she/he will ask you if you want to speak to a higher tier agent - yes, of course you do. She/He will likely tell you they are experiencing a high call volume of inquiries and would you like an agent to call you back in a couple of days. Again, yes you do. GIve them the info they ask for (phone number, email etc...) and then you wait for your call back. It took 2 business days for me to receive my call, and subsequent approval a few hours later.

Easy peasy lemon squeezy :)

you may find it on the USCIS site, i recently submitted mind because its been 9 months for me , CSC is backed up too , I haven't heard from them since I did the biometrics, the couple times i called them i was told that it may take between 6 months and year and this regardless of what the USCIS processing times state .

So I called in... Tier one agents aren't able to create service requests at this time because of the glitch in the system and they said keep calling back to reach a different agent since they don't transfer calls... So i called second time and I got no information about my case except of what I already know and again agent was not able to create service request because she couldn't even login into the system..... So I asked the second agent that gave me the same answer to transfer me to tier 2 agents.. She was hesitant to do so and her language was ughmmmm "if you demand" isn't that rude?! I said I was told to call them after 6 months if I don't hear anything back to follow up with my case. So she transferred me to tear 2 agent but wait time was 1 hour.. So I just scheduled a call back and left them a voicemail. We will see where we go from there. I'll keep you guys posted of the outcome.

Wow... I am schocked... So I get a call back from uscis... I get this indian guy talking to me confirming all the information... I also provided the receipt number which he was not able to get it right for three times.... the whole conversation was cutting off and I barely could understand him at all... Anyway... Frustration growing... So finally I start explaining that 4.5 month ago I called in and asked questions about how the case is processed, times and all that stuff... The lady told me call back in six months... So a week ago my lawyer submitted request asking about why it's taking so long... My case is pretty straight forward case with all the good stuff that has to be included. Anyway so I explain the situation, that agent is so ok, give it couple more weeks and than call back if you don't receive anything from uscis, removal of conditions might take from 6months to a year that's why you have 1 year extension, have a nice day, bey bey... The way I wrote it was literally word to word of what he said and he hang up on me... WHAT?!?!?!
