I heard conflicting theories about whether the one-year extension applies to the date of NOA vs. expiration date of GC, so I made an infopass appointment and got a I-551 stamp a few weeks ago (NYC). I also moved once since I filed I-751 and made the change of address request on the USCIS website.

Hi there ! Congrats! I got my NOA on Feburary 18 of last year as well buy nothing yet in the mail...hopefully soon I hope .I do have an info pass for Febuary 28 to get my passport stamp .

When it comes to driver's license I had the weirdest experience ever... once it was close to the expiration date I went to dmv and asked to renew it. So they asked me for the letter that immigration sent it to me which I had and gave it to them and some other docs. They issued me a temporary one and than after 2 months I received the actual card that was valid for 5 years even though my application for roc was pending. During those 2 months I went to dmv 3 times because usually it takes about 10 days to receive a card but during those visits when asked about my DL at dmv I was getting the answer that department of hs hasn't verified my paperwork that's why I was getting  a delay. After 3 times of going there they gave me a number to call Sacramento... spent 1 1/2 hour on the phone and the lady told me that they haven't received any of my paperwork and asked me to resend it directly to her email so she could look in to it. Req docs were noa letter, expired gc, expired dl and the temporary dl that was issued by dmv. So she called me back the next day and told me everything is good and I should get my dl within 10 business days. I got the dl in a week and it was valid for 5 years so I took as good sign for my roc because they had to verify it with department of hs and I thought everything has to be pretty smooth.. but it wasn't quite smooth as I expected it to be.. after a few months I received RFE.. even though I made pretty huge package of evidence and their list of docs that they were asking was pretty broad... Anyway I submitted most docs of what they wanted and ot approved little less than in 2 months.

Hopefully you'll get a letter soon!! In any case, the stamp will buy you another year, so you'll be fine.

I spoke to a very nice officer, a lady, and she also explained that they have a queuing system that goes by the completion of each phase before a case can be assigned to an officer, so regardless of when you filed, what actually gets your case moving faster is completing the background check in time. some take less than a week while some take months. This explains why some December filers are still not approved and some February filers are approved. Hope this helps.

Makes perfect sense, hence the abnormality of the randomness of approvals.

This is very valuable information. I was wondering how their queuing system works, and now this makes perfect sense. Good luck to everyone out there, and congratulations, enforsa123.

Calling USCIS was a waste of time. They shut down their lines when the volume is too high for tier 2 IO, Wow. So nothing, all they said was that VSC is processing Dec 2016 cases. Nothing about Feb Cases and yet others are getting approved before ours. Wow, unbelievable. Nothing is ever easy. Irs frustrating at best.

I'm so sorry about that, but it's always best to call in the early hours of the morning or about 5pm in the evening. They open their lines back later in the evening sometimes.

I've been following along in the background for the last year like some others and really appreciate the info! We were Vermont filers and my husband just received his approval letter yesterday (2/16/17), so I wanted to add our information to the list:

 

I-751: 2/19/16

NOA1: 2/23/16

Biometrics: 3/28/16

Approval letter dated: 2/10/17

Enforsa, I didn't realize one could call outside of business hours. How early/late would you recommend?

I'm not sure what time they close, but I live in Central time zone and I have been advised to call just a little before 5:30. So I guess they shut their lines for the day if not busy at that time. Congrats Christie22

Hey friends - I just checked the processing times and there has been an error because they've all been updated to July 28, 2016. 

Maybe we should take advantage of this and file service requests since we're all technically outside of normal processing times right now!

I actually was able to just submit a case inquiry online. It said to expect a reply by March 11.. Not sure if once they figure out the timeline was an error, they will actually look into our case though. Will update you!
