Recently me and my father entered US in Immigrant Visa (fourth preference).
My uncle was the petitioner. My father was the principal applicant. Me, my mother and my younger sister were the derivative beneficiaries (accompany). I'm a graduate student in US. I had been in US for 1.5 years already. As my semester was going to start, I had to travel to US. To avail the immigrant status, I had to travel with my dad as he was the principal applicant. So, me and my dad traveled to US as immigrants.
But my sister and my mom did not travel with us. As my sister had final exams of her final year medicine studies in Bangladesh. Though both of them (my mom and my sister) were in accompanying status and they got their visa too. They are planning to travel at a later date like 2 months later. Will it create any problem at the port of entry as they did not accompany the principal applicant? Before travelling to US, I emailed US embassy twice at that time specifically mentioning our problem. They replied that no one can travel before the principal applicant. And one can travel as long as the visa is valid.

So, will it create any problem at the port of entry as they did not accompany the principal applicant?

Hi mrn_1269,

I just have a question for u. I am also a beneficiary of F4 visa petition. I am also a grad student in the US. I was wondering weather or not it was possible for you to use :adjustment of status" while staying in US? Are u required to interview in your home country?

Thanks
