My Nephew was came here 10/22/97, got his GC 2011, it took a while for him to get his GC because USCIS lost their application. From 2011 he went back and forth from US to Philippines, (finished his college, then come back here to work, then decided to go the Philippines to find luck there). Until my sister gave him ultimatum last year 2015 if he decided to stay in the Philippines, he's on his own because even if he was working in the Philippines, his salary is not enough to support himself. He can't even afford to buy a ticket to go back here in US. So finally last year 2015 he decided to come back here and pursue his dream to be flight attendant and luckily hired and currently working now.

BTW my sister Filipina married to USC(American) and his son from previous marriage in the Philippines. When my Nephew arrived here he was already 18 yrs. old thus he is not qualified for automatic citizenship anymore.

My question now is- his category is IR2 has I know he needs to gather some information about his recent travels for 5 years or at least completed (sum amount of days) to be qualified for citizenship. But he couldn't recall where was his old passport was.

Anyone had similar experience? Your inputs are highly appreciated.

Eligibility Requirements

If you are a green card holder of at least 5 years, you must meet the following requirements in order to apply for naturalization:

• Be 18 or older at the time of filing
• Be a green card holder for at least 5 years immediately preceding the date of filing the Form N-400, Application for Naturalization
• Have lived within the state, or USCIS district with jurisdiction over the applicant’s place of residence, for at least 3 months prior to the date of filing the application
• Have continuous residence in the United States as a green card holder for at least 5 years immediately preceding the date of filing the application
• Be physically present in the United States for at least 30 months out of the 5 years immediately preceding the date of filing the application
• Reside continuously within the United States from the date of application for naturalization up to the time of naturalization
• Be able to read, write, and speak English and have knowledge and an understanding of U.S. history and government (civics).
• Be a person of good moral character, attached to the principles of the Constitution of the United States, and well disposed to the good order and happiness of the United States during all relevant periods under the law
